DemoBase Rules

We are a community of SoF2 MP Test. Now the most of the admins except me does NOT agree by banning players here on the forum if they have cheated (even admitted they cheated). For example if a player called 'Killer' has admitted he cheated, he can still be registred here and discuss with us. Some players will agree with this, but some were also complaining about this (for example Windoxx can still create an account here meanwhile has violated the rules several times). About NOT sending demos these admins agree the same, NOT banning. But how can you ever check if someone cheats then? So I totally didn't agree with these admins their opinion and decided to make this topic.
I will make a specific poll, about cheating. I hope everybody has time to bring his vote, because this is really important and has a lot of influence on many things here on DemoBase.
BEFORE VOTING IN THE POLL, THIS IS WHAT IS MEANT BY 'CHEATING':
- PLAYERS NOT SENDING A DEMOS
- PLAYERS CAUGHT ON CHEATING
- PLAYERS ADMITTING CHEATING
- PLAYERS VIOLATING SPECIFIC RULES
Once this poll has a result, a new poll will be created about the type of violations and the time for temporary bans!

which 'specific' rules
Since the release of Soldier Of Fortune II in May, 2002. There hasn't been an anti-cheat available for version 1.00. This caused players to whine and ban people during clan wars for hacks. Reason most likely to be banned for is "2know", whatever the fuck that means. In early 2009, rumors started appearing around the SOF2 1.00 community that somebody was developing an anti-cheat. Everyone thought this was a great idea, seeing as the game had been out since the 17th century and nobody gave a fuck about it. All of the 16 players left on SOF2 1.00 cheered and supported the Hitler like figure who was developing this anti-cheat. When the anti-cheat was finally released, it was the biggest fucking failure in the history of video gaming. It was so humiliating that Michael Jackson died a few weeks later. The name of this anti-cheat was called "Mousetrap". It had been coded by some four eyed geek virgin who couldn't even code a fucking keygen.

to be honest.. I couldn't get on my mind for which one to vote, first or second one..
One thing is clear.. cheaters must be punished. Well, a one oppurtunity is to ban them from a forum temporary time, but.. he still can play the game..
What gives the sof2 player that he can't look forum for a temporary time.. there are others community's too ( NTG, SOF2EU ) etc.. he will just register in other community and post on etc..
in my opinion busted players should get banned from temporary time in most played server, top gun etc..
I'm not talking this because I'm busted also and i want to stay in forum and not get banned in forum.
So.. i wont vote because i couldn't decide..

Why u even make a poll?
Because the Admins don't want to ban cheaters or players who does not send demos.

I see well strange admins u got then. Just take decision 1 but with the not sending demo things I'd suggest u say after 2-3times because everyone can forget to record once in a while. Why u even make a poll?
Because the Admins don't want to ban cheaters or players who does not send demos.

Uhm it was everyones decision to make a poll, even though as you said most of the admins personally thought we maybe shouldn't ban people for the reasons stated. So I totally didn't agree with these admins their opinion and decided to make this topic.
Yeah, that's what we discussed, didn't we. By reading the log of the conversation it's more like discussing about what kind of power we have, and since Demobase is a forum, we admins don't have power over anything more than the forums unless everyone decides to give us that power. Banning people from Demobase doesn't prevent them from playing in the servers unless the server admins ban them, thus it doesn't matter too much if we ban them or not. Of course banning them shows that DB doesn't accept cheating and such, but that can be shown in other ways than that. Why u even make a poll?
Because the Admins don't want to ban cheaters or players who does not send demos.
Boiling it down I think that's the core of the issue and what we were talking about for so long (among other things while getting sidetracked). So it's not simply just "admins not wanting to ban cheaters", even though that's one way to say it in sort of a negative way.
I'm not trying to do anything else than bring some background to it, so take it as such and nothing more. You might want to review the msn log yourself to see that we actually did discuss all of that.
Cheers.

In my opinion these forums should be isolated completely from the game. There is a lot more in here too, xept the game (free talk, css, music, netbossrap and other crap). Its totally different situation if you spread hacks or encourage people to hack. These guys are abusing the forums and therefore should be definately banned.
By isolating i mean, that demobase forums shouldnt have control over what people do in public, or in cws. We can make a blacklist of players who are not sending their demos, cheats etc.. its up to the clans to decide if they recruit or play with/against these blacklisted players.
As we have seen, banning someone from these forums is not the solution. The player will keep on playing with different nicks/ip. Problem are the clans who take time after time these busted/"gold" players in.
Also getting banned of not sending demos. What kind of idiotism is that? Why not get banned if you whine/curse in the war? Would make it far easier wouldnt it? Imo its the clans agreement (unless its demobase sponsored cup), if they record or not. If clan puts a won match on their website where one of their players didnt record.. we gonna ban whole clan from the forums then?
If we go with the rules presented above, we would need to ban 2/3 of the admins + 95% of the current forum users. Ofcourse its up to the community how they want the forums to work.. we are here just to make sure people play by the rules chosen

Useless to argue whether people not sending records should be banned, because its pretty much useless even to ban guys like mgod. Admins wont allow them to talk about cheats here or spread the cheats here anyways and getting banned here doesn't stop them from playing wars and on public. Someone would stop cheating so that he could use the forums? Uhh ok. Of course the admins can sort of try to isolate certain people from the community by banning them here, but then again, do the admins have the right to remove the players from the community? No, they dont, they only have the right to stop people from for example being racist on the forums. If we want a commitee who busts players and makes sure they'll get banned everywhere thats another thing. I noticed that I just copied yank, so thanks.
