While I did use to game a lot I never considered it an addiction and never used it as an escape, I just simply enjoyed doing it lol.
Me neither though I did call off going out just to play certain cups or wars.. Thats not really addiction but still, you sacrifice rl shit to do some gaming. Still to this day I call of work\friends just to chill out at home smoking some blunts playing new game campaigns. For me a way to regain energy to deal with work n stuff... I find it really hard to believe im the only one..?

Yea I've definitely done the same thing with a couple wars but still don't feel it was an addiction. I think people who have any hobby have blown off social shit and they would say the same thingMe neither though I did call off going out just to play certain cups or wars.. I guess it could be hard to draw a line sometimes between what's addiction and what's not. However I don't remember a day(minus vacations) when I didn't turn on the computer and gamed or surfed.
Sometimes I had like 15mins before leaving for work and I still turned it on. In that perspective turning on the computer doesn't make much sense unless it somehow makes
helps me to regulate my mood. Not sure it's an addiction, but i think it's better to keep alert.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Games are games, define "game" and you'll in your term have the definition of your answer.
Or just pretend to manifest in your own guise that a game can be addicting. The only game that was addicting that I've ever played was World of Warcraft, because progression is like crack when you're the best guild on the server, but if you asked me if any game was able to replicate this feeling I got from my crack addiction that was WoW, I would say no. There is no such game.

Why would anyone do that? Besides you forgot Diablo 2

I don't know why anyone would decide to continue to trick themselves into thinking they will become addicts to video games. I figured some people might not understand what "manifest in your own guise in thinking a game can be addicting" means, especially considering the half population of Europeans here and the other half population of European retards here.
I did forget Diablo 2, but it's a cool research topic to discuss how Diablo 3 failed to entice so many players the same way Diablo 2 did. Fact is that most of them were actually the SAME players too, right? I mean, I definitely fit that mold. I was a D2 player for years and D3 player for 3 weeks. I wonder why the same concept in a game couldn't capture me in the same way?
Maybe because GAMES AREN'T ADDICTING. You just have way more time when you're a child/teenager to dedicate towards gaming. I for one, now, work 40 hours a week and go to school 20 hours a week during the Summer and during the rest of the year I'm working 20 hours a week and going to school 40 hours a week. Just no time anymore. When I was a kid, I could skip that obligation to go to my stupid Algebra class because Algebra is fucking easy. Now, if I skip my day at work, I get fired and I lose my source of income, thus causing my loans to continue to pile up and making me not be able to pay my rent, which could potentially make me homeless, and that won't help my ability to game, now would it?

it's not very uncommon for adults to come home and game away all the remaining time they have left completely neglect their families
I mean, I agree. But that doesn't necessarily mean you're a addicted to gaming. It's more like you prefer gaming over the consistent chatter and burden of family. I am exactly this way. I decided instead of bitching about it and neglecting them to move out and pay for my own education and shelter. However, I will still put down a game on my weekends when I do not have other obligations like school and work, the only time where I can sit down when the sun is out and play a game, and I'll go visit my family. Maybe not everyone is the same way, but I still refuse to believe gaming can be an addiction.
To me, people throw the term "Addiction" around so loosely in the 21st century that it loses meaning. "Marijuana addiction, game addiction, coffee addiction..."
Want to know what a fucking addiction is? Go find a heroin addict or a crackhead and sit down and actually have a conversation with them and you'll find out what real addiction is.

But it doesn't have to be physical like heroin it can be like gambling which is only psychological, which is a real addiction won't you agree?
Since we talk about meaning for words how about this for definition of addiction http://www.medicalne...info/addiction/

If somebody else sits down and plays a game for 24 hours a day and neglects his own health, then IMO that person is an idiot and deserves to die of a "gaming addiction" lol

I don't see playing video games as harmful to me in any way shape or form, hence to me it doesn't fit the description of an addiction.
If you are not addict it doesn't mean somebody else can't, only a fraction of drinkers become alcoholics.

I don't see how somebody dying in front of pc helps your argument about gaming not being an addiction.

In my opinion, gaming is far from an addiction, and those who view gaming as an addiction, or those who suffer from gaming as an addiction, can be dubbed as "stupid" in my book.
Do you understand my opinion now? To my knowledge this was a topic asking about whether or not you are addicted to gaming. I don't find it possible to be addicted to such a thing as gaming, physically nor psychologically. The only possible way is if you have some sort of issue going on in your brain, which is beyond my personal level of control, thus I can not say that I classify gaming as an actual addiction.
Whether the Medical Board of Whatever or you disagree with me is irrelevant.
