At most schools, the last 3-4 years, you can choose what classes you want. Of course there are the manditory classes but there are quite a few courses you have the freedom to choose.
Giving kids too much freedom is not entirely a good thing. For some people this ''plan'' might work, but I think a majority of the kids/teenagers lack the self-discipline to go educate themselves.
Sounds fun and all, but i guarentee if this happens @ your school, boundries will be made and you will not notice a difference.

agreeI don't entirely agree with this. Where do you draw the line between, something you just must know/learn, and something that you're not interested in, and thereby not learn it.

I am sure that every human is curious to learn and in this community you must if you want to get money to buy your bacon. You would at some stage start to learn if you had the possibility.
Our school system is based on forcing you to go to school. That is why the attitude usually is against school. If it would actually be fun. It would be made fun to learn you would go there.
I don't respect the system we use now. 'Stolen childhood'. One of the slogans i've always liked is that you must live 110% all the time. To have the best life what is possible. By sitting in lessons i dont care it's not possible. Half of the lessons are not usefull after your school.
For example we must learn 5 courses swedish in Finland. For me it means that i waste 5 hours a week because of this shit. I aint going to write the subject in matriculation examination. I'd rather more learn japan than that.
Just finished a essey of this matter and got a speech on the next week.
Was only curious to see your opinions. But honestly i didnt expect anyone to read it.

The purpose of the education system is to teach the basic skills to be able to communicate and survive in everyday life, to find out one's talents and special skills and then guide that person to study such subjects so that the society can get the best out of each member, school also teaches that life aint always about getting to do what you want. It teaches kids discipline to become a productive member of the society and actually do some work. The older you grow, the more freedom you get in the studies. The older you grow the better you know what you want and whats really the best for you. It all sums up.
