Hello everyone!
FP checks all my paks and it goes fine to the game's main menu.
But when I try to connect to a server I get this ambient sound error:

I tried to reinstall but the error appears again.
Can you tell me what's the size of the sound files/paks that you have installed in your game's directory?

Well, what it means is that your sound files are corrupt. For some reason I cannot find my sound files in my sof2 folders and am unable to locate them. After some further research on the net, I found that reinstallations are the best bet and it's usually because CDs are scratched or such and such.
Shifty should know the error, but in the mean time if you don't want to wait, I suggest a full wipe of all files. Don't just uninstall, you should delete the folders as well of your sof2 directories.
I also suggest downloading the known working copies of sof2 if you're running from a CD. They can be found at http://caserun.com/games/
Try that out. Maybe shifty will know the problem when he gets on. This is my best bet.
One question:
Is fairplay giving you this error? Can you run the game fine without fairplay? We just want to be sure to know what is causing the problem.

When you load FP, try pushing your minimize button(default is the Pause key) and then navigate to your SoF2 folder and then look inside the base folder. When you're in your base folder look for any files which have the extension ".pk3.zzz", if you see some of those, please post the full filenames here.
Also, as you asked for the sizes, make sure that the "musicandsound.pk3" has the size "182 MB (191,252,236 bytes)" of the "Size" part of properties, NOT the "Size on Disk"

Hi XILLAX, I have the exactly same size of the file "musicandsound.pk3".
I'm downloading right now the file from the link that forgy gave and I will try to install it.
If I can't solve the problem I will post the full filenames of the files which have the extension ".pk3.zzz".
