- justify your opinion don't say just "because communists" give reasons why you think that
- don't get personal in the discussion, try not to offend anyone even if he doesn't share your viewpoint

to keep the wealthy rich
heh
I think power is the reason, money is the means of obtaining it. All the country leaders are already rich and live in luxury, it seems to me
at that point persons status and power gains more importance then becoming even richer. There are many people who benefit from wars
but those who start them; I don't think they are in it because they want to keep themselves wealthy.

I don't think it is possible to come up with a 'main cause' as to why wars exist, however there are many possible explanations:
- Some people believe that war becomes inevitable when there is no ehm, let's say ruling hand, higher force making sure there are laws which are lived by. So without directing/guiding war becomes inevitable.
- Some say war is human nature, I disagree. If war is human nature that means war is inevitable. I believe that human kind is capable of living without war. Nowadays we no longer fight amongst each other over food, over who is the leader of the pack and who isn't. You could say we have other methods of warfare but I don't think that is relevant as we're talking about actual war here. We've evolved time to time and I believe this was possibly also because our nature is not to seek war in a nature state but peace.
- Also very true in my opinion: during a war you often see that people strive for peace. I believe that war makes us desire peace more and see the alternatives.
So wars were inevitable, but we've evolved partially thanks to them.
I believe that it is up to a higher power to keep those seeking war in check through laws and such. That is why (when looking solely at war) I think those people of a higher power (not taking about religion here) have to be peace seekers by nature. Whether or not they have to "rule with an iron fist" is a different point of discussion I will not go on now.

People are violent and selfish by nature, they can live without wars and do very well but still there's a lot of violence between people even without the war; crime etc. Simplifying war is often either means of taking what you want from others or a result of conflict of interests. There are groups of people who knowing that war brings casualties and suffering to thousands, will still make war to serve their purpose, or purpose of their nation.

Yea i think so, but only to limited extent. I mean after ww2, western powers were already preparing for war with USSR.

Aye but why do these people resort to war and not other means? Is it their nature or perhaps because they aren't able of pursueing their goals in another way?
Elaborate please.

Depends what they want to achieve and other characteristics of they conflict
Sometimes other side won't listen and obey and other side wants to force their will anyway say;
USA doesn't want their non-allies to possess nuclear weapons see Iran; Iran feels threatened by US invasion in Iraq doesn't want to share its fate
so they want to develop nukes as it's their only chance to scare USA away. So if Iran won't stop researching nuclear technology; building nuclear power plants which for example may be later used to produce plutonium for bombs, USA attacks Iran before it potentially develops nuclear weapon
*I'm not suggesting Iran is developing nuclear weapon, just assuming they would just so I get a good scenario
look at bush, he got rich after he started the war in IRAQ cus he owns some oil fields in texas.
we all know that's the real reason he started the war, he couldnt care less about saddam himself.
Or maybe with wider perspective and less selfish but still wrong of him; for USA to control key strategic resource.

I hate foil hats like you with your conspiracy theories. How could oil fields in texas become more lucrative by invading Iraq?look at bush, he got rich after he started the war in IRAQ cus he owns some oil fields in texas.

Presidents wages aren't that bad anyways and they get rich whatever they do... Also the US presidents fortunes are still nothing compared to REAL corrupt leaders like Putin for example. Hate him instead. Invalid reason for bush hating.

Because people from EVERY religion are stupid enough to think they are superior over the other religions.
provide proof then that wars are caused by religious beliefs, because it seems to me in 99% it doesn't really matter

Companies producing military equipment (guns, bullets etc.) lobbied Bush; in return for a part of their profits he declared war on Iraq.
Also, it's possible the States tried to gain possession over the oil fields in Iraq or maybe they wanted to increase their presence in the Middle-East and used Iraq as a buffer for other countries that may pose a threat (Iran, Syria).

I don't think Bush is a philanthropist who tried to improve the life of Iraqi civilians cause basically, if you didn't belong to the part of the population Saddam tested poisonous gas on, your life was pretty much okay. At least better than now.
Companies producing military equipment (guns, bullets etc.) lobbied Bush; in return for a part of their profits he declared war on Iraq.
Also, it's possible the States tried to gain possession over the oil fields in Iraq or maybe they wanted to increase their presence in the Middle-East and used Iraq as a buffer for other countries that may pose a threat (Iran, Syria).
well reasons could be multiple some people argue also that it postponed economic crisis by few years; and temporarily boosted the economy of US
but it could be said that it was basically money&control
According to http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ which sums up all recorded acts of violence on civilians; around 100'000 civilians died since the war began both by warfare and later on by destabilization of Iraq resulting in terrorist activity. So Joey you see apparently human life is not that expensive and precious after all. And people are ready to support war to get what they want, which is pretty depressing.
