I've played 2 months with lag now and since I joined -aMeX-, I wanna fix this lag so I can react faster in wars and do something helpful for my team (like fragging the opponents, lol).
And ehm... you might know I have been playing this shit for 8 months now. When I started playing (till 2 months ago), I had a stable 48 ping, smooth play, no problems.

Basicly, what I see/have is:
- seeing the opponents too late, even if theyre heading my way (let alone moving a lot in conf)
- while jumping I have an awkard fps, it just skips and it looks very instable/not smooth

These are the things I have tried:
- other cfg's
- various com_maxfps, rates and snaps
- new router
- new cable
- cable straight into modem
- updated GFX card

My GFX card:
- ATI Radeon HD 3800 series.

It all didn't help...

So you both lag and have low fps? PC specs?

PC: Pentium dual core, 2.66 GHz with 1,50 GB RAM
OS: Windows XP Professional, SP 3.

I don't play other games on my PC, only on XBOX.

No malware, viruses, spyware at all. My download speed is fast... above 3 Mb/s. :/

Reinstalling Windows... ehm, why? :P

You can't conclude anything from your download speed. Download speed is pretty much irrelevant when playing online games. Sure if you can, you should test sof with another pc at your home before using such drastic measures as reinstalling Windows. If that pc has a stable ping, then something's wrong with your pc. Reinstalling Windows might help or then again, it might not.

I meant to say that, if I had viruses something unusual would happen. For example, spyware would decrease my internet speed or with viruses, my computer would be very slow. Both are definitely not the case.

I'm gonna install a virus scanner to be 100% sure though.

I just mixwarred and tried with a recently downloaded "normal" sof2 demo + standard cfg + without fp. Result: didn't help, same issues.

Could it be my monitor then? Something with the refresh rate or so?

I think I found something... It could be my GFX card after all.

My motherboard BIOS isn't updated yet (never updated it in at least 4 years).

Fix compatibiliy issue with some AMD VGA cards
