Since I think the mod is almost finished, you can now request me to update your server so that you can record demo's in your own server.


Have any of you played the Demo that I provided with the mod (with automatic camera switching, speed adjustments)?
Any feedback on the healthbars (cg_drawFriend 1)?

Max, how do I record a demo nowadays? i tried the new and old rpm, but it all gives me the same error =(. And hitsounds would be a very good idea tbh, liked it very much in Sof2ext. Also, when I watch a demo with the new RPM 784 v4, all my demo binds are gone. I like your new demo watching addons, but for instance how do i view scores? I dont know if its possible but Refrag 2 for 1.00 would be THE best :P. greetings virii

You need the latest server side version in order to record. Currently only my server is running the latest version, on request I'll upload it to other servers!

You cannot check scores during the demo. I've already added the most relevant ReFrag features. My mod has additional features that ReFrag doesn't have. For example, you can see the progress percentage, float freely and you can create an events file.

Didnt you somewhere in this thread say that you never used refrag before?:P Because, progress percentage, floating freely and creating an events file are things refrag does have so I dont really understand what youre saying. I'm not trying to be rude or anything since i admire your effort in making this for us deeply, but checking scores and scrolling faster in demos (than 400%) are imo also very relevant to viewing demos. Anyway maybe if you want you can add my msn so I can give you every feedback you want. greetings virii

I had installed ReFrag a while ago before I started working on the playback features, I haven't seen the features you descibe. So I guess you know more about it than I do. Anyhow, that's not particularly relevant anyway.

Checking scores isn't possible with ReFrag either as far as I know, because this is dependent on server updates. Also, the maximum speed I use for scrolling is 1000% and not 400%. If you want to use faster speeds you can either use the "jump" command or you can manually set the timescale cvar.

Have you tried the demo playback features yet? I've added them to the opening post.

I have one suggestion about the demo playback. I just found out you can ghost mode in demo play back which is absolutely awesome for movie makers like myself whenever I want to do an awesome SOF2 movie. My suggestion is the arrows to move around in ghost mode. UP arrow moves the camera up. DOWN arrow moves the camera down. LEFT moves it left, RIGHT moves the camera ghost right. I'd love for the UP arrow to move the ghost forward instead of up and DOWN to move it back instead of DOWN. This would change my world if I ever decide to make a SOF2 movie and makes the ghost mode in demo much more convenient. It's perfect besides that. Props to the maker of demo playback. The ghost mode should just be like in 1.00 live games when you use ghost mode. Thanks, I hope you take my suggestion into account.

Thanks for testing and for your feedback. This is highly appreciated.

I pretty much agree with you on the controls, they are counter-intuitive. I'll try to change it in the next version to make it identical to the normal ghost controls. I can add PageUp and PageDown to go up and down. Have you also tried adding cameras? I'm considering adding a menu for the cameras and for events.

Binding to F1-F12 doesn't work since these are used for cameras. I'll add TAB to check the scores.

New beta version here.

New features:

Playback features
  • Demo floating improved. Floating is much smoother now in many regards. The floating controls are now similar to the normal ghost floating. You can use Page Up and Page Down to move up and down.
  • You can spectate other players during Playback, given that they are close enough to you. The names & ID's are shown above their heads. Use 0-9 keys to go to spectate ID's 0-9, use Shift + 0-9 to spectate ID's 10-19. use Ctrl + 0-9 to spectate ID's 20-29. You can only spectate them in 3rd person. Press Delete to return to the recording player. Names of enemies are shown as well, so you can spectate them too.
  • Maximum playback speed increased from 1000% to 10000%.
  • You can check scores with the Tab key. It also shows how long ago these scores were updated.
Other features
  • Made some tweaks to draw friend. For the Name & Bars option, I removed the armor bar so only the health bar is shown now. The skull sprite is slightly smaller, disappears quicker and appears "inside" a player rather than above him.
  • Quake 3 hit sound added, please let me know whether you like it.

It's a Pure server, you need RPM 0.78. After version 0.79 is released, the server owner can change the required RPM version for that server to 0.79.

Max, now i got it working.. but u made a mystake with the hit sound.... you didnt add it as an option to can set if off/on....
and it aint working on every bullet you shot at the guy... and if its only for HS then it sucks!!!
it need to be fix.... BIG BUG x)

You only hear the sound when the server confirms that you hit the player. So it certainly doesn't play each time you shoot due to the bullet inaccuracy.

You can turn it off by typing cg_playHitSound 0. I am planning to make a menu option for it, but I first wanted to see if people like it (which they do).

Edit: knife throw doesn't trigger the hit sound, this bug will be fixed in the next version.
