Can anyone please help me?? I got windows 7 and, nothing i have tried or shifty told me to try will fix my fp, it starts up fine initilizes and then examines the pak files, then goes onto the black screen before it goes into SoF and i get the sof2mp-exe has stopped working problem. My sof2 folder is on my desktop, running in admin mode, tried doing the compatibility mode in all windows.. PLEASE HELP.

yooo the problem lies in windows 7. if you install your sof2 it makes an error while installing. thats just something windows 7 does.
download the demo version @ : http://caserun.com/games/ this one will unpack and not Install. and im pretty sure it will work afterwards

Maybe a silly answer, but did you already try to rename your .exe to sof2mp.exe?
I reinstalled sof2 yesterday and I had this exact problem as well.
My .exe was named SoF2-MpTest.exe (in Vista) and when I renamed it to sof2mp.exe it worked.

I had same problem and it was my firewall which was blocking sof so i did only get black screen while everything else worked fine.
Try to shutdown firewall and then try.
If it works then go to your firewall properties and add sof2demo to allowed files so your firewall dont block it.

what windows 7 version you have . the x64 or the x86 ? 32-64 bit `?
i once had that problem to because i used a 64bit version. and somehow 32 bit worked fine after installing it
