Hi ppl, since i installed new OS from xp sp3 to win7 prof, sof2 doesnt work.. When i try to open .exe ,i get an error, if i chooice from right mouse button, "Troubleshoot compatibility" with xp sp3, i receive an error in console "couldnt load sof2mp_default.cfg". It seems like i dont have some drivers, but iv got... My card is radeon HD4850... and i had no problems with this game on WIN XP. And if it does matter i didnt installed this game, just it was installed a years ago on xp :). But i guess there is no point for care about that.

plz help. / gigabyte'

It's not a driver problem your right about that part. There is a similar topic about this problem with a solution:

http://www.demobase....2mp-defaultcfg/

You deleted your assets or sof2mp_default in assets...

Download link for demo - http://caserun.com/games/demo.zip

Download demo again from the link above, copy your sof2mp.cfg from your old sof2 folder into MP from the 'new' sof2 folder (maybe you'll have to create that folder by yourself) and you can rock & roll again :P

If your problem isn't solved with the topic I linked above then let me know :)

i dont get it, in this package its only a file "sofmp" and folder "demo" and in this folder is only one file "assets". So where the hell is new folder of sof2, lol ?:|. And im not so stupid to delete some file from my sof2 folder... I didnt delete any file from sof2........ It worked well on win xp. I had this problem on winxp, and i installed some directx or sound drivers or graphic drivers, and was good. But now ? omg

Do you have a folder in the folder demo called MP?
If not, right-mouse click in the folder demo and create a new folder and name it MP.
Once you've done that, put a cfg file in there (in the folder MP) named sof2mp.cfg and it should work.

Well, I just hade the same problems, couldn't play sof2 also. I could open sof2 normally, but then I connected to a server and I was getting this message "Troubleshoot compatibility" or "Sof2. not working". Well I talked with Shifty and he told me to download "demo.zip" from www.caserun.com/games and extract it into desktop, so it should work then. Good luck, hopefully my tips works! :)

PS. This worked for me, and I had the problems 2 days ago.

Start reading the replies here instead of just posting your problem over and over again. Follow these 6 simple steps and your problem will be fixed (I even added colors so everything is cristal clear):

1) Download demo.zip from caserun.com - http://caserun.com/games/demo.zip
2) Extract demo.zip - when its done you will have a folder called demo
3) Open that folder demo and go in the folder demo (the other demo folder which has assets.pk3 and create a folder MP)
4) Copy your sof2mp.cfg from your OLD sof directory into the new folder MP
5) Download fairplay - www.fairplay.ac/fairplay.exe and place it in the normal demo folder (where sof2mp.exe is)
6) Play

I have also windows 7 professional and sof2 works perfectly ^_^

go inside your sof2 folder(probably inside "C:\Program Files\soldier of fortune blablabla") & right click sof2mp-test.exe or fairplay.exe and run as administrator

or

place the entire sof2 folder onto your desktop and run the sof2mp-test.exe or fairplay.exe

if u dont help ,dont spam KaSS.

i did it million times :
"go inside your sof2 folder(probably inside "C:\Program Files\soldier of fortune blablabla") & right click sof2mp-test.exe or fairplay.exe and run as administrator
"

"place the entire sof2 folder onto your desktop and run the sof2mp-test.exe or fairplay.exe " - doesnt work...

i tried too with trobuleshoot compatibility with win xp sp2/3 and nothing :|. And here maybe an important thing... If i use it (compatiblity win xp) if i try to launch game, i can see only the console, and the error with "couldnt load sof2mp_deafult" or smth like that. I remember that i had this problem on win xp, but i fixed it by intalling some drivers for GFX or sound. But now ?? Wtf? For example game - starcraft 2 going well.
