I realise I posted this in the 'wrong' section, I just want to catch your attention, sof IMO is having it's last breath. I love this game as much as anyone on these forums, having played it for over 10 years just proves it. However I feel like I lost all motivation to even play sof, you keep repeatedly warring the same guys etc. I could go on forever..
Thing is, if you love sof, there is a chance you might love this game too;
Urban Terror: same engine as sof2, fastpaced gameplay, low recoil just as sof2. It feels a lot like combination of sof2 & q3.

Competitive-wise a really active game, both on clanbase and their own forums, there's multiple cups going on, just like sof in it's prime times. This game is in it's prime at the moment.
This is probably where I'm heading FPS wise, I'm kinda done with sof, you have to be realistic (even though it's summer vacation and all that), almost nobody still plays our game, we do not attract new people etc.

Before hatered; sof is my only love, always will be, I just wonder if some people would like to give this a go and perhaps we could set up a clan there so I don't have to go throught this journey by myself <3

Playing that already for like year while got some free times,
Really a good game the good thing there is no glitch + also some of open maps,
I bet if you like to play Counter strike, you will like to play this one aswell.
Shifty/Abu and some players got it tho we tried to play it together sometime ago,
But for some reason they didn't like it. so guess i'm the only one who left there.
And indeed it's weird to see the part of the activity, this game is pretty old aswell, it's a mod of quake 3 / like u said Quake 3 Engine the graphic looks abit crap but total you enjoy to play it.
No camp no shit, Jump / Sprint pretty cool

Since everybody here is saying good things about it, I'll go ahead and provide my input:
I was one of those people with jaron and abu who tried it out a year or so back. Honestly, I don't know if the game has changed since then, but it is a substantial downgrade from sof2's gameplay, if you ask me. What azzy says is true, the game is fast paced and similar. It isn't as big a transition as say playing CS or COD from SoF.
But, the game's maps are completely badly designed, if you ask me, and the gameplay is too similar to that of quake, if you ask me. I think you guys would be better off making a Quake Live clan/team as that is more popular than Urban Terror and probably a better game. Again, just two cents from personal experience of playing the game but I recommend you all try for yourselves. Just remember, it takes time and dedication to be good at an FPS game. We've played sof for years and all of us are really good at it.

I played public URT a few months ago and I liked the game, my only dislike are the fancy jumps you can do.

Aye. MANY MANY MANY things to dislike about the game. Not sure why this game is a valid alternative for sof2 after all that has been done. Honestly, I think everyone is rushing a bit to dismiss sof2 as an active game. The same players who keep it active are in mumble every day. The only difference is they play one war a day instead of several and most of them spend the rest of their time playing LoL or Minecraft (as mike said).

You don't need to go back far, about a year ago we had 30+ people browsing Demobase at the same time daily, checking out topics and posting, now we are lucky to have 10 people browsing our forums at the same time...
I rarely see Dinks full anymore too, it may just be me picking bad moments to play some sof tho, since I don't really play at all, but I think this is wishful thinking tbh.

It is wishful, I just think rushed. I kinda find it sad to see how many of you dismiss sof2 so quickly. Instead of thinking of ways to make sof2 a better place, all I see are people wanting to find something better, which is going to be hard to do realistically since you all have been playing sof for many many years.

Nothing personal to you azzy, but all I am saying is that over the past few months I have seen you create a few topics on Demobase. One of them being a sof movie and yeah, that was awesome.
The others were a Minecraft post urging people on Demobase to play in your server and they did for a long time, actually. That is one reason why I saw a lot of people disappear from sof2, because they were playing in your hosted Minecraft server. You also made a post asking for a banner so you could advertise the server better as you would like to see more people in your minecraft server. This is counter productive to advertise on this site because if you want sof2 to be more active, you're not helping by pushing people to spend their days playing minecraft.
Also, you made this post about trying to get people to play Urban Terror instead of sof2 because after one day, "sof2 is dying".
You see where I am going with this? I am not directly blaming you, azzy. But everything that is going on here is rushed and you are NOT helping sof2 by doing these sorts of things. Instead, you could maybe get involved in one of the running cups. Make a nice post about a new cup or something of the sort. Spend some time configuring a different gametype? Perhaps revive the caserun cup idea? You have GREAT ideas, but they are all in OTHER GAMES. Then you try to take people away from sof2 and to those other games via this community.
Something I do not support. Offer people alternatives and they will eventually leave. Offer people something gamebreaking and they will flock.
FYI, We tried to get three wars yesterday with aMeX and we played two. You were in all three conversations but didn't respond. There is also an aMeX MSN group created a few days ago for the purpose of war organization that I asked you to join but you still have not.

Lol, maybe a total of 6 people play in my Minecraft server right now and they all still play sof more actively than they play Minecraft. Whenever they don't have a war, they play Minecraft instead.
The reason demo is dying because for one, it is still called DEMO, it scares people, 2, we modified it, to us it is a full and basically 'perfect' game, that's not how someone that doesn't know jack shit about sof2 would feel about it.
Urban Terror is a GREAT example of how you revive a game, it started as a MODIFICATION for quake3, now it is a stand-alone title which they advertised for, it has thousands of people playing every day, it has cups, nations cups, it has everything.
The only way to 'revive' demo is to make it a 'stand-alone' title too, make it easier for people to access it, integrate fairplay and rpm into one client and put the download links all over the internet, advertise a lot etc...
I don't see any of the above things I said happening, ever, this is not something 1 guy is able to pull off, it is something you do as a community.
I think my entire youtube channel dedicated to sof2 proves how much I have done for this community, maybe not cup-wise and all that, but I had my share in putting sof2 out there, just sayin'
