I'm just trying to say you need to support people that want to make movies. People that get better at creating movies can really grow and create good videos

I wouldn't even mind what the players around here say about your luigi, or whoevers video. Thing is you've made a fragvideo in a few hours, recorded it ingame with fraps, on a public.
These factors just influence the video quality, but aslong as you like to make such videos to your own fun who's to say its bad or wrong?

Most of the demobase players don't even make their own video, most probably don't even know how to. Not even talking about the JUDGEMENT most people here give. Everyone's totaly comparing everything with movies as Haze, campers and Avelgems and I'm telling you when I see the 'ratings' in that topic I get the feeling these people never seen a real good video.. Giving everything 10/10 as if its a PERFECT movie. Most game video pages would've given such caliber videos a 7 MAX.

So well yeah, most people here give a 10/10 rating for a 'pro movie' or an OMG LOL SUX for a fast-made movie.

Well those who would give 7 MAX to the "best" demo movies wouldn't even be arsed to watch this one from the start to the end.
If you can't record in full go play gold or demo or just be prepared for the flame incoming. Thing is that these kills are so regular you'd get them in every TDM/INF public session you play. Plus there was no editing whatsoever if you count out some random voice clips and regular fonts saying 5 KILLZ UBER MASSACRE.
And why some people don't make videos is because most of the time it doesn't justify the time put into it. I've toyed around with Vegas and Photoshop a lot in my past but if i don't feel like i have the frags i want to show to other people i'm not going to spend hours into making one crappy game clip.

And what i liked about HaZe's first RRE vid made by Rob was that it wasn't your usual /insert some counter striek 1st person nolifing and add some black metal to make everyone's ears bleed. He actually put something into it. At least i felt the vibe of people just enjoying the game and the competitive scene of it not to mention the frags were pretty cool for that time too. It took time and effort probably but the outcome deserved it in my opinion. Sure it isn't as cool as the "world class" CS vids but hell those are made by people who play 24/7 and get their energy drink money for playing.

This stuff wasn't more than me turning on one record frapsing it and putting a "cool" track to entertain the viewer.

And i don't give a fuck that you can't record demos in full. It sucks anyway and is filled with 3rd abusing 12 year-olds.

I hope you once see the light and find that SoF2's real beauty ain't there. Next time just have patience and look more into making one solid movie than hundreds of meaningless pub ones.

I'm not saying the videos of demobase are bad videos, I'm just saying people on demobase are not fair in their judgement. A 10/10 movie would be a PERFECT sick sick sick movie.
There is hardly any good feedback on videos such as HaZe, but there also hardly is any feedback on videos such as these.

You really think that every pro video maker STARTED with a 7/10 video? I think most videomakers would've probably started with a 4/10 if they are lucky. But they get the hang of it because they start to like improving themselfs, based on feedback people gave them. Something to build on.
You really think calling someone an idiot, retard, giving a LOL OMG? gives ANY motivation for someone to develop?

To give the example to everyone else in this topic I'll just kickoff with some serious feedback.

To be very honest its not a very good fragmovie, but you've probably already figured that out seeing all the flame. I wanna start of with something that I did like in your fragmovie, its the fact that the pace of the movie seems to be nice in combination with the fast music.
What makes it a not very strong fragmovie is most importantly the frags.

FRAGS:
First of all there's single frags, I'd pick up a single frag in a movie when it is a very hot frag, for example a 1 hit jump ak shot from pad to cargo. So try to pick some good 3-5 frags (and no a regular slice kill is not hot)
Seccond thing is the fact that the frags are just plain public frags, people want war frags, seeing you frag a couple in a round, clutch it or whatsoever.

Quality & effects: I heard its possible to record a demo without the MODS, if so you shouldn't use fraps to record. Just use the avidemo command in console (If I'm right about the command). It keeps the output quality higher

The effects are basic, but I would first build on other points than effects, effects have a higher learning curve, takes some time to really get good at effects. After Effects is probably the high-end program for effects on windows, but you can do alot with Sony Vegas, which is easier to learn.

TIPS:
Whats important for now is that you should just try to improve on such points, but also important is to keep the pace in your fragmovie high.

If you don't really want to spend too much time into a fragmovie, you should just keep it plain without too much effects, but the frags need to be outstanding.

If you don't really want to put time into the learning of it, it might be better not to post them on demobase

I haven't made that many frag videos before, this is my second one and haven't had further time to learn the basics of Sony Vegas but I'll try some time

Tho i'm sure IF all the modmakers(rpm, rpmpro, you name it) look into it, it should be fixable.

Atleast for DEMO, you can't even start talking about full because of the fact you can't view povs, and as for gold..not really into gold so haven't really watched any movies either except eN/vilzey/nd movie.


I've yet to see movie with decent intro/outro/content, music-video sync, etc in sof2.

heard there's some new movies coming out by docfunk and blue etc, there's a little hope but yeah this is funks like first movie, so definitely no and if anyone IN MY OPINION can pull off anything decent..then it's blue. but I guess he's too lazy, haha.

I like the movies from Chicane and widow, and of course Northern Darkness is a good one... but not worthy 10/10, maybe 8/10 or 9/10 which is still pretty high rated.

richard aka manager, you dont have to use mods for fraps. you can record normally and use fraps when you re-watch your record. its the same as cl_avidemo 30, but instead of typing that you use F12 and fraps starts recording from you demo. but fraps isnt as good as cl_avidemo cuz it puts it to avi immediatly. when you use cL_avidemo 30/0 you get screenshots in your folder and you use virtual dub / videomach to convert those screenshots into an .avi file after that you shouldnt use moviemaker but vegas pro. you could use photoshop to make some nice screens for intro and stuff or w.e.

That's cus youngsters don't have the skills / motivation for all the time and work it takes into it and people already who have talent in the field are probably realizing it on areas more meaningful than game movies.
That's just my idea...I've always wanted to make a short one of meself but even after 7 years of playing i don't have material good enough that would satisfy me...lol.

Yeah its pretty much what I was aiming for to say, the problem is that in full (where they play) its yet impossible to record a demo So its impossible to play that demo

Perhaps someone should make a nice MOD which allows to record, would surely help the videomakers

You can record but when trying to view it, it gives you "CL_ParseServerMessage: read past end of server message"
google doesn't say anything smart either for that error tbh.
