I think Xillax has a point. But what you don't know is that Van Rompuy brought peace to the Belgian government during his prime ministership. For once, the politicians weren't discussing the communitarian issues but the government was actually doing what it's supposed to do; lead the country and help us find a way out of the crisis. So ironically, YES, Van Rompuy is the right man.

Funniest part is, all the negativists in this topic are British and Dutch, the 2 nations that failed to deliver the President. Especially GB cause they have always been naysayers when it comes to Europe, except when it's to their advantage. They're so desperately clinging on to their Pound, it's pathetic. Other than that, Xillax, I think GB should reflect on themselves for a second too when it comes to communitarian issues. You may say Belgium's bursting but at least we don't use violence.

it doesn't matter, it didn't even make the news here, I didn't even see anything on news BEFORE president was chosen -> UK doesn't care who it is.

I'm sure it would have been on the news if Blair won, but eitherway, it wasn't even on the news with a "run up to the president" or so, nothing was on the news at all about this..

Thing is, I HEARD he hardly has any opponents.. But when you have a real own vision its very likely people will be 'against' you. Because of that I have the feeling he won't be tough enough staying with views. Tho thats just a feeling I have, I can be very wrong about it since I don't know the guy.
