If you're running it on Windows 7 64bit heres a tip:
Go onto your C drive and go to program files (x86) and look for the SOF directory. Go into the directory and right click on SOF2MP-Test.exe and fairplay.exe and go to properties under each. Then go to the Compatibility tab and check the box that says "run this program in compatibility with" and then drop down to "Windows XP Service Pack 3".
If you don't do this I found that Windows 7 (at least the 64bit version) tries to create a pseudo-SOF directory somewhere else on the system and it is hard to find that directory to be able to change your cfg for example.

If he's using Windows 7 64bit, and if I remember correctly..
Then Windows creates a pseudo directory under C>Users>Matt(whatever your username is)>AppData>Local
Beware, the "AppData" folder is HIDDEN so you need to reveal it.
