buying plasma tv for gaming purpose is as clever as a fish driving a bikecycle.

buy sony, samsung or panasonic LCD television, novadays they are as acurate as plasmas, but 100x better in other features.

(myself got sony bravia 40D3500, worked perfect about 3 years now, and you get 4000 and 5000 series already less than 1000 dollars, way less!)

Television (TV) is a widely used telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images that are either monochromatic ("black and white") or color, usually accompanied by sound. "Television" may also refer specifically to a television set, television programming or television transmission. The word is derived from mixed Latin and Greek roots, meaning "far sight": Greek tele (τῆλε), far, and Latin visio, sight (from video, vis- to see, or to view in the first person).
Commercially available since the late 1930s, the television set has become common in homes, businesses and institutions, particularly as a source of entertainment and news. Since the 1970s the availability of video cassettes, laserdiscs, DVDs and now Blu-ray Discs, have resulted in the television set frequently being used for viewing recorded as well as broadcast material.
Although other forms such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) are in use, the most common usage of the medium is for broadcast television, which was modeled on the existing radio broadcasting systems developed in the 1920s, and uses high-powered radio-frequency transmitters to broadcast the television signal to individual TV receivers.
Broadcast TV is typically disseminated via radio transmissions on designated channels in the 54–890 megahertz frequency band.[1] Signals are now often transmitted with stereo and/or surround sound in many countries. Until the 2000s broadcast TV programs were generally transmitted as an analog signal, but in recent years public and commercial broadcasters have been progressively introducing digital television broadcasting technology.
A standard television set comprises multiple internal electronic circuits, including those for receiving and decoding broadcast signals. A visual display device which lacks a tuner is properly called a monitor, rather than a television. A television system may use different technical standards such as digital television (DTV) and high-definition television (HDTV). Television systems are also used for surveillance, industrial process control, and guiding of weapons, in places where direct observation is difficult or dangerous.
Amateur television (ham TV or ATV) is also used for experimentation, pleasure and public service events by amateur radio operators. Ham TV stations were on the air in many cities before commercial TV stations came on the air.[2]

Havent been posting on db for a long time, but when people write such dumb shit like u i just have to respond.
People who work in shops want to to sell u their shit, and if they sell mostly lcd's that's what they will try to sell huh?
If u go to a high-end tv store (like Stassen, also near Eindhoven), u will find they they sell ONLY plasma.
Why? Cuz plasma beats the living snot out of lcd. Colors are more natural, black is really black (not the vague grey tone they sell as black on lcd).
Plasma does use more power, but hey, who cares.

My advice: Go to a good television store, not those electronic stores where they sell everything from blenders to refrigerators.
Ask the personnel to show u 2 tv's in your price-range (1plasma and 1lcd), let them show u some HD-content, let them show u some analogue signal, and some normal digital tv.
Trust your eyes and pick the one that U think is better. (cuz in the end it's a bit personal).
(Trust me, u WILL pick the plasma)
In your price-range the panasonic plasma is the best pick (IF u opt for plasma), if u had 3000+ to spend i would advice a Pioneer.

LG or Samsung - Best brands quality/price. You can choose also a Sony, Pioneer or Loewe, but that will cost you more.

buy a FullHD 1080p LED TV. Ideal for gaming and movies.

Choose one with high contrast and low response time, such as 5ms.

If any of the above options are too expensive, then buy a plasma of the brands i've mentioned.

And what would be a high contrast? U don't actually think tv's get a contrast of 2000000000000000 like they advertise with. Those are all clever marketing-tricks. (And if u would choose your tv on those specs, plasma will win again cuz they have higher contrast)
Trust your eyes and take a look in the store. Numbers mean NOTHING.

I looked through some topics on another forum and Sony HX700's owners seemed to be very happy about their telly. The 40-inch model could fit in your budget.

Yes, i'm pretty aware of all marketing tricks since i work on a retail store that sells almost any kind of electrical equipment.

Plasmas contrast ratio isn't too high compared to the new LED technology. Besides that, having 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio is excessive and you don't need such a ratio, while 100,000:1 is already sufficient for a good quality.

And fyi, numbers mean something. Compare the power consumption of a plasma to a LCd or LED. The Plasma consumption can be 1.5 times as the consumption a LCD has or even up to 3 times as the consumption of a LED TV. In a 42 inch model, a plasma usually makes a consumption of 300W, while the LCD only does 200W and a LED 100 to 130W.

Continuing on numbers, a life expectancy of a LCD or a Plasma (New generantion) is an average of 60,000 hours. The LED life expectancy is over 100,000....

Even if the LED pricing goes up to 20% more of an LCD, it should be considered the fact that LED's will last longer than any of other LCD's or Plasma's.

ive done some research as well and thats why i chose that panasonic 50 inch g25 series. LCD has its own advantages and same with plasma but imo if u take care of your plasma its overall better. just what ive read on google etc. well ill take in everybodies opinions into concideration.

btw i could care less about all these retarded features. thats what a computer is for and alot of the features are on xbox 360

and i dont care about power consumption.

LOL

didnt you just understand :) everything > plasma. plasmas are only good for watching tv, if you are going to use it for gaming, you will do big mistake. A BIG FAIL, you burn your tv's screen in a week.

I only told about my own 3 years old bravia lcd, but led tv's are the best there is. my parents have 40 inch samsung led and the picture is just flawless, even in finland tv sends only non-payable channels 720p, and it says enough when that transmition is perfect.

use some intelligence and buy led tv lol.
