Facepalm guys, how do you not know what is the reason for this intervention? Oficially, it's for the civilian people getting hurt in the fight or actually commanded to be killed by Kaddafi (Sarcozy statement).

OH RLY??
ofc i ask about underlying reason, which has something to do with oil; because what else is of value there, sand?

But still, if the situation was left on it's own, we'd be sure to get helluva lot of victims, because Kaddafi's army had a huge advantage over the revolutionists.

The stronger one side is the quicker the conflict ends, the less casualties. So actually making it even you allow for more rounds played, instead of 20-2 rape.
I wonder what will be their next move, wouldn't be surprised if they bring government down and negotiate new oil contracts with what we call now rebels.

Even? Russian equipment from the 80s against modern western arms. It will be a 20-2 rape, but for the other side. Now it will be the Libyan army that will suffer rather than civilians (on a massive scale) and as we all know, soldiers are not humans.

Sure oil is an important factor here but I seriously doubt it is the actual cause of the intervention.

Gaddafi had this, now to remove him they will have to destroy whole country so it's not 20-2 on the other side, it could be a whole new cup
For the sake of Libya I hope it won't come to this.

Did they send troops to stop genocide in Rwanda when around 800'000 were killed?
Do they send troops to North Korea where regime is far worse than in Libya?
Libya has no.9 oil reserves if the world, nobody would give a shit if they only had
dates and goats.

I swear on my mothers grave that i just wanted to write the same thing DocterFunk. If they really wanted peace and democracy and 'liberate' the supressed populations, they would invade Rwanda and capture all the rebels. Same thing can be said for North-Korea.

This war is about selling weapons, getting oil and a message to Iran.

That's what FOX news tell. Im talking about the reason why they 'care' so much about the Libyan population. Kaddafi wont surrender so quick, this is only the start. You did the same in Iraq (first shooting strategic places) and then fucked the country up, stole their oil, made a civilian war beteen sjihits and soenniets and screwed their economics and then leaving like nothing happened.

Sell this story about you guys doing it '' good '' to other people.

OF COURSE Libya is an important oil provider and a barrier from the "black land" people that'd migrate to western europe. BUT, why would they attack if obviously Kaddafi would stay as the leader? To get better oil deals, huh? Sounds too fuckin risky to me.

And comparing North Korea to this situation here is ridiculous, NORTH KOREA HAS NUCLEAR WEAPON AITTTT?

I guess they really want him to stay as the leader as they already bombed his estates LOL, they want to change government there let's see how far they will go to achieve that, if Gaddafi will act smart he still might save his hide.

plz wake up nobody gives a shit about Libyans Kenny they care because Libya is important and they have some buisness doing it,
Nobody cares/cared what happens in central Africa or what happens in Yemen now where protesters have way bigger support than in Libya
and where significant parts of military defects to the protesters side. It's not even on the news lol.
Besides these protesters are ARMED, unlike those in Egypt/Tunesia.

I want to believe that some goodness is still left in people. I mean, I don't really care about those people dying but this action can also be seen as hitting the european voters' hearts, gain them for the next election.
Anyway I think it's more complicated than that. And you have to remember than it's only recently that this UN law of helping civil people with all means has come into life.

International politics is the last place to look for goodness, 95% of it is about money/power/business and the remaining 5% is irrelevant
I don't know what they are trying to achieve but they really couldn't care less about Libyan people.

Same with Iraq they ruined a country, destroyed lives of thousands to achieve their goals. Besides they lied about weapons of mass destruction.
It's all money and politics, and it was not hard to foresee what would a war mean to the regular people in Iraq. Look how it looks now, war is the last thing common people want. Besides if some idiots from our Silesia would start an armed rebellion wouldn't we try to bring them down with force? it's not like Gaddafi what shooting to unarmed protesters, these guys who fight there have weapons. I'm not fan of Gaddafi, but look at Poland in 1980s, would you like west powers to destroy our infrastructure kill thousands to set us free? If it was your family on list of casualties you wouldn't. Fighting is rarely the best option. And those armed rebels are nothing like freedom movement we had in Poland either.

doc, ur being to pessimistic about this. This isnt some bush-decision to invade iraq for oil. This is the UN & NATO, organisations that are there to help civilians against warcriminals, not invade some country for their resources.
I do believe they have the right reasons for this invasion, the only problem i have is that they arent invading countries where the same is happening because those leaders are more cöoperative with western society such as Saudi Arabia.

they try to overthrow Gaddafi imo(for some reason they want) not to keep both sides from fighting, but let's see how it unfolds
besides there NO evidence (contrary to for example situation in Balkans), that civilians were massacred by Libyan forces etc,
so I wouldn't call them warcriminals yet

nice interview btw, aslo from US citizen perspective ^^

you won't help people by bombing them and destroying their country infrastructure, watch the interview above you could learn something
and most likely actions taken now will strengthen Gaddafi(if they don't manage to kill him soon)

and Arab League already regrets that decision and says they didn't sign up for bombing that takes place now, FOOL

oh and UK doesn't have more oil than Libya, FOOLx2
