Greetings. After some discussion with a few of the community members and some prominent figures, I want to know what the community as a whole has to say about an idea of this summer cup.
You all remember the Fantasy Cup? It was a Draft oriented cup where we had captains pick teams and had a cup revolving around that. Why not give it another go? It's summer, holidays are here, as usual most clans/teams go inactive during the summer, but we still have a good amount of active players still playing the occasional war, still playing the occasional mixes, so why not have a little fun with some added competitive spirit?
The idea is that we have 8 captains. We set a draft date that the captains can make, have a pool of players willing to participate, and do some random picks for draft positioning. Perhaps gather on MSN, IRC, Shoutbox, wherever and we draft players. 7 Players per team, 56 players. This isn't a farfetched number, but it's an idea, remember that. Perhaps when we reach that point, we can continue the draft and pick the remaining players or even start a Secondary Cup for the remainder in the pool. Although 7 players per team and 8 teams would be optimal for a quick cup.
Why volunteered captains and not chosen captains? Because we do not want conflict of interest between players and leaders. If you want to pick a team, you can volunteer. I assume we will get more than 8 volunteers and then the volunteers will be chosen by a consensus of people who can judge based on their mix experiences of being captains and whether or not they will make good picks. We want to try to give the best chance to getting even teams, and not have a noob captain pick a noob team like in some shitty mixes.
It'd be fun, a change from your regular run of the mill clans/teams. Some players would like the opportunity to play with people that they do not usually get to play with in a cup setting. The reason why the Fantasy Cup did not do so well is because people stopped playing their matches. I think with better organization and initiative and considering how active demobase has been recently, it'd be a fun time to do this. Plus, during the summer is a perfect time as the cup would most likely end around September when summer is closing out and clans/teams re-activate.
So this thread is for discussion purposes and to see what the turnout would be. If you would be willing to participate, vote YES on the poll. If you would not want to participate, vote NO (A reason as to why would be appreciated). Those of you who are going to be on vacation for the next 2-3 months, I'd also appreciate it if you would not participate, unless you plan on actually being active.
If you want to be a volunteer, feel free to say so in this thread and your contribution will be noted if the cup has the turnout we want.
