I ordered a new graphic card (Gigabyte Radeon HD7950 3GBGDDR5) and power supply (Antec EarthWatts 650W Platinum) (430€ all together)

but I have Narra6 motherboard, Athlon II X3 440 and 4GB DDR3 RAM.

basicly I know that everything should be suitable, but not quite sure if it will work well together. Comments/advices are welcome.

Your cpu is quite underpowered compared to HD 7950. You'd better overclock your Athlon for less bottleneck.

ye, not on mine. Tried yesterday, dont even have that option to unlock manually 4th core.

and what about that mboard Pegatron M2N68-LA (Narra6-GL6), is it good enaugh for the card?

lol hp are so good you can overclock them so far with just stock cooling wicked cases they provide 10/10 would buy again

Yep, forget about overclocking or unlocking anything then. You bought a powerful graphics card but you can't use all of its potential with that PC. If I'd been you, I wouldn't have bought anything better than ATI Radeon HD 7770 or Nvidia GTX 650 Ti

So your budget is 430e + 150e? We probably can use your HP chassis and drives from your old setup. Just make sure those drives are all SATA.

What you'll need are a new motherboard, processor, memory, PSU and a graphics card. Your old motherboard seems to be m-atx form factor based on HP site so we're gonna order a m-atx mb: http://h10025.www1.h...e=c01925534#N33

Here's what I suggest:


i5 quad core, GTX 660, 8GB DDR3. I went 10e over your budget but your games will run great with it. Just make sure your drives have SATA and that GTX 660 fits in your HP chassis. It wouldn't hurt if you checked that there's enough room for that PSU too because well, you never know.

problem is that graphic card and power supply are already ordered and coming, so all I will need is new processor and mboard + ram.

if the system will not run full strength, like it probably won't... I will buy a new mboard and processor (just need a suggestion what mboard and processor to buy for HD7950).

and yes my harddrive is SATA ofc 1TB.

i5 2500k + LGA1155 mb should be around 270 eur ? That would be perfect match cuz i5 2500k is the most famous gaming cpu ever and you can go 4,0ghz with stock cooler .

i5 2500K (3,3Ghz) is 220€, which is way too much for quad core. The 8 core (4Ghz with turbo 4,2Ghz) AMD processor I linked before was 210€.

but LGA1155 is 80€ and supports PCI-E 3.0 which is the place for HD7950... in the other hand it doesn't support AMD processors (which are much cheaper than Intel). But really appreciate this suggestion!

Yet 2500K runs games better than any AMD processor currently but still I wouldn't get 2500K because it's already a last generation CPU. I'd only get an AMD processor if you were on a really tight budget and planned to overclock it. In your case, there aren't any good AM3+ m-atx motherboards at Jimm's for that purpose. So your best choice is a LGA1155 motherboard + Intel i5 processor and you'll also need DDR3 RAM.

Just remove PSU and graphics card from my previous suggestion if you already ordered them and you'll be fine. If you want overclockability, then you'll need a Z77 motherboard and Intel 3570K/3770K.

P.S. It doesn't matter which PCI-E version the slot is because PCI-E standard is backwards compatible.

Yep true , and games atm doesn't even use the full 2 cores yet , so yeah 4 cores is more than enough

There aren't many games that use 4 cores but some exist, e.g. BF3, GTA IV etc.

Z77 looks quite good and cheap, I think 3570K would be my choice if I will buy Z77... thanks
