"no gun law can be 100% effective". You forgot the negation there didn't you ?
I didn't even think about the black market but it's a very good point.

Usually in situations where I've seen students bring weapons into a building, having a gun pointed on them would just push them to pull the trigger. They're waiting for someone to wave a gun at him so he has no choice but to slit a throat. Some schools need armed officers, while others don't. What we need isn't the president or especially some European video gamers to tell us how to solve the problems that guns provoke. We need the school administrators to not have their heads up their asses and make good decisions about whether or not that school needs metal detectors and/or an armed officer around at all times. In some cities we need it, in other towns it's a waste of money. Kinda like how I'm wasting my time writing this. A perfect analogy would be how you should wear a rubber if you'r fucking a whore but it's pretty much pointless when you're with a virgin. But most people would probably give my town one glance and say we wouldn't need that shit, but I know a kid in jail now who brought in a knife when he was 9.

people kill people not guns. stickman's post was the only one I read and I agree with it mostly, any european that's actually discussing this is out of their mind if they think they have any clue what they're talking about. Whoever says they should put armed guards in schools is batshit crazy because there would be way more cases of accidental shootings and suicides. Since I've never been to Europe I have no idea how the schools are there, but I've been in 3 different schools here that have gone into "lockdown" when when someone brings in a weapon. In Springfield some kid was supposedly running around the hallways with a knife so we weren't allowed to leave this lobby place for a few minutes. Afterwards everyone acted like it an everyday thing. I think that there was an officer there already at that school cause it's been one of the worst cities in America, although not nearly as bad as New Orleans or Detroit but way worse than anything across the Alantic (apart from Russia and Africa)

Its bullshit to say guns dont kill people like docterpunk said.
Look at these charts
http://www.nationmas...s-with-firearms
http://www.washingto...eloped-country/
See how high America is listed in comparison to other western nations. And its not like people in Europe are massively getting strangled or stabbed to death, because ive seen other charts wich shows the total percentage of kills in Amerca is way higher then other western countries aswell.
People can do strage things whenever they are emotional/mentally insane w/e. When you make it so easy for people to buy firearms is like binding bacon on the cat.

In my honest opinion, the belief that you need guns to simply protect yourself is quite ridiculous. You shouldn't need guns at all, that's quite the wrong principle to begin with. Nor should 'owning a gun' be considered a right. Owning guns isn't a right, neither is owning a car, television, computer or what else. It should be considered luxury. However, America is so far down the path of gun ownership already that banning it right now would cause nothing but havoc, as it always does when you take away 'rights'.
Also, that graph is a bit misleading as it doesn't really include every 'developed' country, depending on what your definition of developed is. Also, leaving out Mexico surely does create a less profitable image for America. Still those rates are quite alarming.

What an empty platitude.
You need one second to kill someone with a gun. No battle.
People kill people, yes, but guns make it so much easier to do so.

Obviously alot of people bring up the 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people' statement. Of course this is quite true, however guns do facilitate the killing in quite a significant way. As does having easy access to guns. Although of course you still have to be a twisted person to kill someone, most people probably wouldn't be able to kill people without guns.

Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world, so a gun makes a great form of self defence

Since it is mentioned underneath the graph, i assume they do reckon Mexico as a developed country.
