Don't blame me, blame the people who attacked my servers. They made hosting not profitable anymore, since I had to spend too much time investigating and fighting the attacks. Now I can spend that time developing other projects. The only way we could have kept it profitable was to double or triple the prices, which people don't want to pay, they rather go to a cheap vulnerable host.
In case you want to know who are responsible for the attacks within the SoF2 community: I don't think that's too relevant. It also happened in other games -- in all games, the entire online gaming community is reponsible. Too many kids who attack other players and our servers for fun. And their clan members think that's actually a cool thing. A terrible environment. The attackers should be despised, ridiculed and banned instead for making the world a worse place.
If you think SoF2 was alive just because of 2k3, that's an awesome compliment. It could be true, since we put time into developing mods/tools and trying to keep the script kiddies in check.
wow 2k3 do great job for SoF2
their only bad is they don't gave us rpm mod for normal use now
Should I reward the SoF2 community because they attacked each other and my servers? That is certainly not justified.

These attacks are a part of hosting a server. Its your job to prevent it not to point your finger and say they did it..
This happens in every game..
And yes you should reward the sof2 community for being a great customer for many years.. Why would you punish all players when a few fucked it up? We cant help that and we sure could not avoid it from happening. Anyway I had a great time renting and playing on your servers.

I don't care what you do with the mod, it's 2k3's mod, I don't play this game anymore because the game died years ago, same map being played over and over again, people cry a lot in this game when they lose and the admins on 1fx are ridiciluously abusive as far as I remember them. And that's the only active public server on INF. Wouldn't surprise me if it was them behind the attacks.

thanks for killing SoF2 asshole
What an insightful comment, very inspiring.
gg as long as it lasted. Thank you for all these years of server hosting. Good luck with everything else, Max.

Thanks for making people addicted to this useless mod that makes the server crash in the first place randomly.
Do you do anything else on this forum besides bitching about things? QQ

hello your HighNesZ, long time. I don't see many good shooters out there nowadays, I still play CoD1 and it's almost as old as SoF. Maybe I'll get BF4, you?

That's just out of curiosity and my questions are totally not worth any meaning but :
- You say people leave to more vulnerable servers. Yet your servers were the subjects of the attack. I'm not discussing your abilities to host because I don't know ANYTHING about it. I'm just asking if you are sure of that statement since it SEEMS to fail logically.
- Did you think about doing hosting on new games with bigger communities like cs go or soon bf 4 ?I think people there are less subjects to do things like that since most of them are casual players.

Yes, it happens in every game, and that's the problem. Nowadays kids can't simply play and enjoy their time, they attack each other instead. That used to be different. Punishing everyone is justified since a large part of the community is involved. Even the starter of this thread encouraged DDoS attacks against rival players, now he is mad that we stopped hosting as a result, quite hypocrite.
Sad to see this happen. But what surprised me is why these attacks suddenly occur now (Well, starting from 3 months ago). I left this game a year ago but I've been renting servers from 2k3 for many years and it was a fun experience, 2k3 have been very professional imho, and they've contributed with some great mods and stuff, I'll give them credz for that. I was hoping for 2k3 to grow bigger and expand in other games, didn't expect something like this. If they say they don't want to waste their time working on something that isn't profitable for them and find no time for anything else, then you just gotta respect that. They've been here for 10 years, they've created mods that expanded the life-span of sof, like rocket said. So if anything, we should be thanking them for what they've done and accomplished, for us.
I don't care what you do with the mod, it's 2k3's mod, I don't play this game anymore because the game died years ago, same map being played over and over again, people cry a lot in this game when they lose and the admins on 1fx are ridiciluously abusive as far as I remember them. Yeah good old times, quite nice how we designed H&S and now people are still playing it. There used to be no attacks at all back in the days. We were in fact expanding to other games, obtained ~20 customers in CoD4 quite quickly.
Indeed 1fx clan was responsible for the first DDoS attacks on our servers, I banned their entire clan from my servers and they stopped doing it for a while.
Thanks for making people addicted to this useless mod that makes the server crash in the first place randomly.
Ever tried hacking a program by reverse engineering it using C and ASM? Quite difficult indeed. There are not many people who can create the mod I created for Demo. Random crashes often happen when you hack something. By the way, your AQ servers were gone as soon as I launched my mod. And your servers weren't even protected against the getstatus overflow exploit.
That's just out of curiosity and my questions are totally not worth any meaning but :

1. Basically all attacks and exploits are easy to stop and I can identify and fix them fairly quickly. The problem is that every time I fix an exploit, the script kiddies will find a new one, wasting my time again and again. It takes at least 30 minutes every time and gets boring after a while. Finally they started using DDoS attacks and they simply can't be stopped at all. I'm pretty sure that most other hosts are unable to fix exploits so quickly.
2. Most new games host the servers themselves, or contract them with certain large hosts. So smaller scale game hosting doesn't really have a future.
2x - 3x raise in price is bs you lying cuntbag
Certainly not and I am even using a low hourly wage in my calculation. Contrary to what you may think, there is not much profit in gameservers. You can easily verify this by making your own calculations.

Nothing will be the same as 4 to 5 years ago !
actually demo was the cheapest I seen from you guys , Is this because less players on demo to full? This is a bit dumb, You rise the prices for the support, Yous had like 50 servers running from 4 different games and not making enuff profit ? got to be kidding me !
Good luck to you man!
