This is the gist of this thread...
"I wish Sof2 would become active again, but i cant be bothered playing it to make it active or putting in any effort in working on a web platform that integrates wars and clans and players easily. I'd rather say good luck and not give any effort in making the game that I wish were more active more active by playing it. I'm a dumb average European who didn't get a secondary education."

Because nobody (quite literally) showed interest in bringing this back to an active level. I enjoyed the game and the competition, there were only several clans giving me that competitive feeling, that was c4, she, 3v etc.
Yeah, we got 50 votes to "bring it back", but most of those votes come from "nobodies", that may sound harsh and all.. but I moved on to different games. If we still had skokos, camhams, stevens, zionis, priests and snuggs playing.. I'd be all over this demo.
It just lacks good players.

Didn't read the whole topic, only first post.
As i saw my name there i'm gona give it a reply: As long as there is other companies hosting sof servers at reasonable prices (under 1 euro per slot) there's no need for me to host them.

I'm still doing regular 2v2's and 3v3's and play mixwars/tdm sometime (by regular i mean weekly)

An artist who only works in his own studio doesn't sell any records, and the same way this game won't attract any players as long as the discussion is only going on here. LAN Tournaments on big ass screens (even without a prize), internet tournaments with a prize pool, ads on websites, innovations (e.g. 1fx/rpm) those kinds of things will attract new players.

Well, if you wanna finance that i'll make your money clean as fountain water brah.
But to stay on topic, if you guys want to make sof 2 more attractive there is no secret. It won't attract much new players in the state that it is now. So you have to rework it, add decent maps and come up with a "new game" based on that one. The better is that new game the more players it will attract and it's needless to say it's a considerable amount of work to do so. It also needs a bit of advertising here and there and a clear website for an easy download. Maybe add some micro transactions in the game.
I'm saying that, but I believe there is no one here who actually knows how to do that who is willing to put the hours in to do so.
Maybe other good questions would be :
How to make this game more attractive ? What are the change needed ? And how would one be able to be paid to work on that ? Is it worth it ? If one can come with a plan and people can team up to code that plan then it's more reasonable, else it's just daydreaming.
because advertising SOF2 in the state that it is now might attract some players but I wouldn't bet my thumb on the fact that you will boost SOF2 competitive scene.
Just my 2cents but all in all i think it's a lost case but that concerns only me and myself.

Active, here's an answer for your dumbass.
No, it is not worth it for the people who know how to program/develop. Why is it not worth it? This'll make you laugh, it's not because the game sucks or is incompatible. The game is simple and runs on a Quake III Arena engine. It's because the user base that represents the entire "SoF2" community is both split between three tiers of the same game (Gold, Full, and Demo) over one issue: Glitches (Not Maps, you can play gold maps on all three games fine now). The funniest is part is that the USERS are the ones who can not give up the glitches of each game, they play full for the third, or they play demo for the ease of movement and glitching, or they play gold for the best of both worlds.
Another thing about the users is the fact that the majority of these three tiers of gamers is that they are retarded children "balling so hard that mother fuckers want to fine them." This is pretty much the gist of why it would never be worth it, it is exactly why RPM is no longer being maintained, and it's why nobody gives a damn about creating a Clanbase clone or something even better for such a shit community.
And those are MY two cents, but I'd have to say that from most of what I have read, most of you people have no clue what you're rambling about. Go back to fucking school for fucks sake.

Dude calm down. I'ain't even reading your shit after the first sentence. I made my post simply because I have read some other posts here of other people thinking about how to revive SOF2. I give my opinion on the subjects and I think it's valid. Is it wort it or not is subjective, remember money might not be the prime motivation for some people, love of the game might be and I know I wouldn't do it if I had the time.
So please, put your condescending tone down an inch because I never said one has to do such a trivial amount of work for so little rewards. But if someone is willing to do it he can. You always try to prove you have a bigger dick than anyone in here but I don't give a fuck about your dick .

I did read between the lines of your first comment and yeah you answered the question. If you asked yourself the same questions, why would you call me a dumbass for asking those ? Don't you think it's a bit hipocrite ? I can't help it.
You are saying that people are attached to those glitches, and you have a point. But maybe the need for a competitive scene for some is higher than the need for those glitches, (they can trade those for the competitive community and a game that has new features). Anyway I'm just speculating here. We both know that this not gonna happen.
But for the sake of the discussion let's assume there is someone on db who would do such a thing in a Year helped with trained monkeys:
If you geniunly think that it is the great game ( you mentioned you don't I know that) then it should attract a lot of players if it would get revamped. If you add micro transactions to that + ads then you could have a source of revenue for the work you put in. But would a new sof2 really attract so much players and what would it be like , what would be its features?
But you are also talking about the community. The goal here is to create a new one.
