I'll be the first full player to admit, demo always had the better community, cups & tournaments, better players and that sort of thing, full had plenty of skilled players too (both 1st and 3rd) but I don't think we could ever match demo on this magnitude of organization. I didn't even know that demo was still active before 2007 or something, and when I heard about it, I was exited to check it out, to see the community and everything. Shit was cool, you were making 'cs like' sof2 movies I had never seen before n shit, crazy shit right there. Mad skills.

 

What I always liked about full was the diversity in game modes and maps, one day you could play in a CTF clan (when CTF was huge it was awesome!), RMG maps with RMG clans and shit, the next day you could roll with an INF clan. Again, we never had any serious cups or tournaments on full until full was "merged" with demobase with the release of MouseTrap back in what, 2008? Demobase gave us something precious and you might even possibly say you increased the popularity of the game a little bit, old players were returning and what-not. I remember I was super exited over an anti-cheat and was just discovering this community as a whole. What I was saying with full, is that I had so much fun playing it, what a crazy ride it's been, regardless if we had successful cups or not. Even with all the cheaters, I kept coming back to play the game I loved to play the most. That sounds weird to say, but I think the reason why I'm saying that is because of the fact that SoF2 was one of my first FPS/PC Online experiences. Holy shit, does anyone remember a petition that was spreading around the interwebz about sof3, like back in 2005/06, everybody was talking about it? I was super exited about that shit LOL. And when we finally got a sequel, WTF?!!! Apart from the graphics it was absolute garbage, what a joke, a better option would be to release it on April 1st to make more sense, it's not even worthy of being mentioned so I'm gonna stop talking about it.

 

What the fuck was I talking about... O ye sof2 is the shit and forever will be the best motherfucking FPS of all-time, whether it's demo, Silver or Gold... There will never be a game like it, never, think about that for a second. What was really beautiful about SoF2 was...the gore, oh my god , the gore, THE GORE!!! Fuck yeah. Limbs being thrown all over the place, blood splatter everywhere, bodies could be blown apart, heads were rollin', you don't see that shit in gaming anymore LMAO. I mean, I guess it was pretty unique for its time. The gorey aspect of the game was 'the' feature that was signifincantly showcased in Raven's promotions for the release IIRC.

 

Anyway, I have mad respect for demo. I hated the "demo vs full" war, which seemed to start out as a joke, I think it only worsened the already dying state of this game, by chasing out a lot of the players from the community, primarily full players, since we never felt welcomed here after "unofficially" being invited with the release of MouseTrap/FairPlay. But what's done is done. Not gonna waste any time dwelling on that. It was a helluva ride. A pleasant one.

 

I don't know why I made this post, just paying a visit, that's all. Like it or hate it.

Oh and, a little more On-topic, I haven't played since 2012 but I have a question, did you guys sort out a fix for the serverlist? I heard it disappeared due to gamespy's shutdown.

Yeah, I'm afraid it's a little too late to request movement changes by now. Pretty sure the developers have moved on to other projects.

 

It's not even a bug, it's how the movement was intended to be.
