I know the difference.. It isnt my computer. Cause it only happens in fragnet servers.. I know the difference between Server/Player lag aswell.. Im a computer techy..
"Fragnet servers" are hosted in four different locations in Europe, using four different networks with their quality upstream carriers. I might stick my neck out, but it is highly unlikely this issue is in our end - but rather your ISPs routing of traffic to Europe. What I suggest you to do is to run a tracert to one or preferably a few of our IPs - I can offer to run reversed tracert - and send the results to your ISP (or our DC(s)) if the issue seems to be in our end. It can sometime help to send test results to ISPs to make them aware of the problem, if not already. At a few occasions even the DCs have been kind enough to change the routing, to prevent the route with issues.
Feel free to drop me an email daniel [at] fragnet [dot] net, if you would like a helping hand!
Not a big fan of these servers.. They lag an aweful lot..
I presume that you mean that YOU lag when are playing?
There is a big difference between server lag and player lag. Server lag is caused by the actual hardware that runs the server and may also include network issues with upstream carriers. Server lag is affecting ALL players on the servers. Player lag means local issues or problems related to the network connection between the player and server. As game server traffic is UDP based, that means no packets are resent. If packets are lost you will experience LAG. A lot of player confuses PING as being related to lag. PING is just a measurement for the latency, i e the time it takes for your packets to reach the server. A high PING mostly means that there is a long distance between you and the server or at least that your traffic is taking a long way (poor routing), but does not automatically mean that you will lag. Packet loss means that packets get lost between your computer and the server causing LAG. Packet loss is most often caused by network issues somewhere between you and server. In most cases it's the players own ISP (Internet Service Provider) that is to blame for "LAG".
If anyone is experience problems with lag on any game server hosted at Fragnet, please feel free to drop me an email - and I will help troubleshoot and explain what might be the problem!
I just checked the prices for CSS, and prices are really high... I pay for 3 months Linemax server only 45€. And its top server. And not 1st pack, I get 2nd pack. Don't know about FPS because the site is down at the moment now. : )
@ vo1ume - You seem to be awefully wrong about our pricing being really high. I have compared our pricing to Linemax and we beat them on all comparable prices. All our game servers are also PUBLIC as standard, which is not to be compared to a Clan server at Linemax that requires a password all the time. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this!
