Hey,

im wondering what you guys think about whether its worth it to change from Vista 32-bit Home Premuim to Windows 7? is windows 7 really smoother, faster and overall better?

will all my games and shit still work? like css, cod4, sof2? and like other programs and shit?

overall should i or not?
ive read reviews online but idk, i want your opinions

thanks

I like the shortcuts especially. like the windows resizing and if u press windows + uparrow it maximizes and it has a lot more features here is the link: http://lifehacker.co...ows-7-shortcuts dont have windows 7 atm otherwise could talk a bit more but u should go for it man vista is slow as shit and windows 7 is much faster and better.

Maybe check youtube of a guy called gigafide n others who go over all the new features in windows 7 in some of their videos

do you have to wipe your hard drive or reformat it when you change os? and also does everything that works with vista 32 work with windows 7? i mean games, apps, programs or whatever.

If you want to change your os or install windows 7 there are about 3 ways that i know you can do. One thing is that you bootup the windows 7 cd and install it on your local disk C: drive that your windows vista uses atm. Another thing you can do is download virtual pc from microsoft and install windows 7 on it. An advantage of doing this is that you can use windows 7 and windows vista next to each other at the same time. I wouldn't recommend this option because when it comes to playing games on your windows 7 running on your computer your games wont play very well as they would on a separate partition( keep reading : ) .

If you have like atleast 150gb-500gb of hd space then you can create a partition and install windows 7. This means you can use Windows 7 and Windows vista on your pc. But not at the same time. to create a partition hold the windows key + R then type in "diskmgmt.msc" ( without quotes ), then right click on your (C:) drive and click "shrink volume" after that enter the amount you want your new hard drive to be and hit shrink. After its done with shrinking you will have to right click on the new box that gets created. It will be called "Uallocated". Right click it, then click on "New Simple Volume" then click next choose the letter you want your windows 7 harddrive to be and your done. After you do this you will be able to choose the new harddrive you created while installing Windows 7. This will save all your files on vista and you wont have to loose vista, do backups, etc. Best way imo

and yes, almost everything works. if they dont there are different ways to get them working such as going in to properties and running them in compatibility mode for vista/xp or right click a shortcut and trouble shoot compatibility.

word, the way im changing is because HP does free upgrades to computers already running a version of Vista so I dont have to partition it and if its actually that better than i dont want vista at all xD

thanks dudes im convinced

I'm just giving my opinion Luigiz, but personally I like Vista more still. I don't know if it runs smoother, if they all say it here like Toxic, then he probably knows it better.

But the whole interface just doesn't fit me. There are new features which are nice but personally I'm used to Vista, maybe that's it. But that is mostly also the case when new people are buying computers with OS. I mean, if you buy a computer, it's all nice that it works good and it's trustable etc, but you want to work fast on it also.

For example the taskbar under is so annoying, if you go with your mouse-cursor over it, a new window pops up. That's also in Vista, but if you go over the window, you also see this new window on your monitor (which overwrites your previous monitor-view). Really really annoying for me. But maybe it's a fact of getting used to it.

So what is recommendable? Both! Just what you like more, there is not so many difference in games if you ask me, could be wrong (tried it on both), but didn't see it on the FPS or other details.

ah interesting point there lumi

my main issue with vista is that it seems so slow and has way too many loopholes and retarded problems. by now ive had vista long enough to understand all of its uses and how to do almost everything, i dont care much for it being simplified i just would like smoother and faster. but if thats not really the main difference with windows 7 then maybe its not worth it

Yeah exactly, that's what I meant. If you are used to an OS, and the new OS isn't really 'that' better, except for a few bug-fixes maybe, then why spend so many time to change it? Unless you are good to swap quickly, but if you don't really know about it, then I wouldn't do that much work for it, but hey.. that's me.
