How does this OS corporate with older games like sof2? And old programs that works great with XP and so on? Do they run perfectly fine or are there just a lot of messy problems?

I'm soon getting w7 for the first time as I've been using XP for 9 years. Lolz.

At least I haven't experienced any problems.

I suppose some older programs with no support might not work, but the ones in active use are prolly already updated to run fine on Win7 if they had probs with it. :( Anyway if something doesn't work on Win7, maybe it's time to search for a replacement.

WHOLE NEW ME!

what you said is crap.

he whole support thing. games are based on the OS of the future. does not mean sof is supported by vista nor w7. those Os hates these games. why you think you got like 100000000000000 errors.

The only error I've gotten with win7+sof2 was because ATI sucks making drivers. :I And even that was easily fixed by using older drivers or adding one file to the sof2 folder.

And I wasn't saying Sof2 is updated to fully support Windows 7, but dur-du-du-duuh it still works on it. I was mostly talking about applications other than games because he was asking about them as well. And via Steam (dosbox) or GOG (dosbox) or dosbox you get the oldest of games to run on Win7. And tu-du-daa, dosbox is an old and widely used program and is developed actively and thus ensured to work on Win7. That's one example of what I'm talking about.

I've still to run into a game that wouldn't run on Win7 under any circumstances. And if there is one, it's hardly a reason to stay away from Windows 7.

AFAIK Windows 7 is compatible with Soldier of Fortune 2. All and any games I have, Win7 has no problem running. That satisfy you? Instead of focusing on what I'm saying, you're focusing on how I'm saying it.

Sure, I get what you're saying as well. But hur-dur-duh-duu you can keep your attitude to yourself as well:

those Os hates these games. why you think you got like 100000000000000 errors.

Name those 100000000000000 errors you have with sof on Win7.

sony vegas.

hell even sof runs like shit my god

How? With Vegas I have no experience (even though I installed it to my laptop and my friend used it), but sof runs like it did on XP.

I'm using Windows 7 for 2 months now with no problems. Just MAKE SURE that you set the SOF exe and fairplay exe to compatability mode with Windows XP Service Pack 3(If you don't then a second directory for SOF will be created in a hidden location at least with Win7 64bit). The compatability mode is Windows 7's solution to the problem of old applications.

I have windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.

@Juul, all the programs work good on my PC. I have had no issues whatsoever with Vegas (using 9.0 pro).
Also Adobe AE CS4 works without any problems.
I can run any game on it without problems either. CS 1.6 ('99) and SoF2 work without problems. Of course I had some registry issue in CS in the beginning which I managed to fix, but that's not entirely caused by win7 and "regular" cs pub player doesn't notice it anyways.

Only thing that I ever had issues with was Ventrilo. After ~15-20 min I started getting huge delays in 2.1.4 version, but setting the programs priority to real time seems to have fixed it.

//e:
ohyeah, that ATI driver issue with older games. but thats not windows 7 fault imo, but ATIs.

Another question to all w7 users. If there's anything (major) that is missing in w7, what would it be? Or are there anything in w7 that you get disturbed by that already exist? (a feature, design, function or what ever, something you can't get used to). If nothing at all, that's great. :(

Just your general opinions about Windows 7, basically.

No problems with it since December 2008. :( (If you exclude some beta errors :()

And nope, everything's working fine in 7 like it did in Vista and XP. Juul, the reason Vegas runs better might be because of crappy hardware? It's working fine here.
