God, here is a crude fix you could add so the game doesnt freeze at the end of a demo:

nulling the last frame byte to 0x00


itll trigger an error in sof but atleast gets you back to the menu

Its working but there is something stupid. You cant check the scoreboard and im pretty sure its possible on demo, any button u press it instantly quit the demo. and you cant watch the demo in 3rd person :|

You can only use f keys & a couple numpad keys while in a demo, so anything you want to do just type it in console.

It works, great job.

However, is there any way to watch the action from 3rd person? I always use 3rd when I play so it would be cool to be able to watch the demos from 3rd too. Also if I press some button during the demo, it closes itself and goes back to main menu.

You don't have to use hash or setrandom infront of 3rdp command when watching demo. /cg_thirdperson 1/0 will do just fine.
If you want to see scores just bind +scores on any F key(just tested, works in full too); /bind F1 +scores


Also another thing you might want to know is /timescale commands which allows fastforwarding in demo.


but yeah. I noticed it doesn't like to fix demos if there are spaces in demo location.. if I use demofixer in C:/ it works just fine though.

Ok, got some time to finish this bitch up. Works pretty well from what Ive tried. Ive tested stock maps plus a few custom maps with a shit load of entities from nv mod. So far so good. But then again I dont play much so im sure things will crop up that need adjusting.

*IMPORTANT*
There are still issues when the demo reaches the end where it should exit back to the main menu. For whatever reason it doesnt. Ive parsed demos from v1.03 and it works like its suppose to, so it is a problem with the engine or possibly something in the vm mod that could be fixed. That being said, it would be wise to disable altnoenter to toggle back or run in windowed mode while playing the demos.

Well I loaded one of my records without fairplay and it was 3rd on without doing anything.

probably something to do when watching demo when u have rpm loaded? also 3rdperson will be enabled if u watch demo and had 3rdp enabled prior to that

Does that mean you could watch 1.03 demos in 1.00 or what? Is it possible to make mp test demos watchable in gold (refrag would be nice to use..grr)

Ive had 1.00 demos running in 1.03 and vice versa. But I use the term 'running' very loosely as there are many errors which will cause you to quickly drop from the game.
The majority of the problems are caused by the updates for the weapons, animations, and extra infos such as hud icons. A lot of it could be handled with a more indepth parsing, but it would probably be easier for someone to create a demo playback mod much like refrag. And by easier I mean I wouldnt have to do anything lol.

Rocket: While i tried to watch my demo with FP it was 1st stright and I couldnt change it. While i tried to watch it without FP ive made binds cg_Thirdperson 1 F3, thirdperson 0 F4 and +scores F5 and works nice. I guess for 1st players like baris they dont have to trn fp off to watch their demos but most do

yeah I just tested it, works great and quits to main menu after demo ends(with error msg, but that's no big deal)

dvz when you had 3rd on instantly when watching demo it would be because you left pub with 3rd on probably. using 3rd/1st while watching demo worked too(like rpm) but it would update only when new round started and wouldn't show the view I was originally playing with always, but thats no biggie ;D.
