For me games that stood out were;
MW1 and MW2 - short but very entertaining campaigns with movie like action
Starcraft1 (original campaign, expansion wasn't that good) - great mood, music, stroy
Planescape Torment - perhaps greatest story ever told in a game imo; while game was dumbed own version of Baldurs Gate the story itself was very entertaining for me and perhaps it was most emotionally involving game I played!
Red Alert 1 & 2 - you gotta love those Westwood cinematics and i enjoyed a bit more darker mood of RA1 compared to farce of RA3
Baldurs Gate - story evolved around you and exploring it was fun
Half-Life - you just got sucked into it from the start
Gothic - cumbersome controls; but great story!
Jedi Outcast - you can force abuse teh evil stormtroopers and swing lightsabers; not a bad story too
Fallout1 - epic story, even more epic music and mood
diablo1&2 - simple story; linear- but still addictive game with great atmosphere/music/playability
doom1&2 - explore mars station then save earth from holocaust from pixelated monsters; hasn't lost its appeal
avp1&2 marine campaigns - you're left alone, with motion detector just like in the movie all I can say is oohhhhh shittt, cool to play at night
Max Payne
17/20
Any newer games you know that maybe could live up to these story telling standards?
