I'm not sure but was the last official DB inf cup 2010? God damn.

Anyway, what I wanted to achieve with this topic was to create a discussion.
My personal belief is that we should do the Demobase INF Open Cup VII this year (maybe carry on to january or so with playoffs).
Why? Because this might as well be the last season of SoF2 competitive play where we have enough people for a decent clan cup. Plus I wouldn't want this game to die knowing that we didn't have the magical #7.

I know the tradition was to have the clan cup in spring but in all honesty I don't see any reasons in waiting right now. We definitely won't have enough nation teams for a decent Nations Cup (even the last 2 have been quite disappointing, I think with team Estonia we made it to finals/bronze finals always with 2-3 matches) and we just had a team cup in spring (plus majority of the teams competing then are dead now). So all that's left really is a clan cup.

Now on to the organizational part. All the staff of DB are too inactive right now to host it (Xillax, Drfunk, Lumi and whoever else is admin/mod), hence I think it's best we take 2-3 people to make the "cup staff" just for this cup (ideally from different clans for an unbiased rule).
I can help with modding the subforum and when I have time I'd definitely love to spec and shoutcast the matches.
I think in the past it has been sort of an unspoken rule that the Demobase INF Open Cup CAN'T be run by people outside of the staff. Well... different times require different measures. Plus I don't see any harm in for example angel+forgy+me organizing it (random names).


And lastly, we need a date for the start at least ~1 month prior so people could fix the current state of hopping from clan to clan or being clanless.
All I can say is - do you really think joining a clan with already 12+ members, who have a solid core, will grant you a spot in their cup line-up? No, no it won't (unless you're camham, bitches love camham). So use this time to find out other people who are clanless, form a team, get some teamwork and tactics going - get fucking prepared and let's have a nice (hopefully not the last for this game) cup!


That's my 2 cents. Anyone with ideas or constructive criticism* shoot away!

*Saying we won't get enough clans, this game is too dead, let's rather do it in full IS NOT constructive criticism, it's pessimistic whine. If you stopped caring and being active take a hike and don't visit DEMObase just to tell others how dead the game is.

We got more than enough clans to perform this clancup.

Already spoke to Miki about it, and (IMO) the best way to handle this cup is with 1 group consisting of 6 clans.
- Each clan plays each clan one time. Score system will be like win 3P / lose 0P / draw 1P.
- Top four of this group goes to the semi's. Here the four remaining clans will face eachother two times, so a 'lucky win' won't be an issue.
- Then the final of one game.


Easiest thing is to hold this cup on mp_shop. But it would also work if we play only one (different) map, for example; jor1 only. This map is known to everyone and has been played so many times.

This is how I think about it. Let's do it!

Pain in the ass? In my opinion, I am just realistic. Nowadays it is hard enough to get 5 players for a clanwar and guess what, a cup is all about 5v5 clanwars, goodluck but I don't see this work out. You guys should learn from the previous cups, they all failed

Possible. But in the previous cups you only played 3 times in groupfase. Now u play 5 times.
If u wanna double it, it would be 10 matches only for the groupfase lol. Bit too much imo..

Might I remember you that in your absence we have succesfully played plenty of cups?
Secondly Howlin didn't directly state he wnated to use this cup to return a game from the dead... he wanted to have one more cup before this game might be completely dead

maKatzo, if you count she and c4 in? I guess playing a minimum of 5 wars and up to ~12(A wild guess) a week for the last 6 weeks isn't enough for this community
