That website is never down except once when I(the host) was upgrading my server and had some DNS problems.
I mean, I'm thinking to myself right now, perhaps you are a little dumb, since http://www.excelservers.org/ has not been offline for even 1 second for the last 2 months.
Perhaps you wonder why he doesn't host it himself like you do..
That's simple: to keep all resources for the gameservers & ftp.
Wow! What can I say?!??! AWESOME!
NOT, almost every GSP has TCAdmin now, and tbfh it sucks for how much they charge.
50% cpu is still HUGE for a GSP server tbh..
A good server on a HIGH load will only be like 10%, more than that and people feel the lag anyway(at least that's how it was when my friend had a company)
Well when i got to
http://www.excelservers.org/ I get a 404 error, website not available, I could access it last month but when i tried few days back couldnt anymore.
TCAdmin has to be configured properly to be handy and useful, if you use default config ofc it "sucks". And there are BIG differences between 2 TCA Cpanels depending on how they were configured by their respective owners.
50% free CPU in full charge means that the slots amount could be doubled without making any server lag so its pretty much low CPU usage. Im sry but I dont host only sof2 servers (they use almost no cpu compared to CSS tick 100 with mods).
Your friend may have been using AMD or some cheap hardware cuz you wil ldefinitely feel no lag when using only half of an intel Quad core CPU ressources. Feel free to come on roxservers and play at weekends between 8pm and 11pm, thats our peak hours lately and I can tell you that you wont feel any lag. Since we are using this hardware we have
never been reported any lag (been using for 5 months now).
We also monitor our servers manually in addition to TCA monitoring and never noticed any lag spike so far.
I know some ppl may have "ideas" about servers but if you dotn got a true and solid experience you can hardly make suppositions based on what a friend said, not to mention you cant compare machines with different hardware, configured by different persons and located in different datacenters.
I never tried an excelserver cuz I never saw any so I will never give my opinion about their game servers. It may be a good company, well good for them, I really have no problem with competition as the market is wide, Im helping myself a GSP sometimes to fix his issues. All what I care about is giving the best service I can for a reasonable price in a legal and licenced way. There are "tips" im ok to share wit h "competitors" without any problem, but I just hate companies who advertise about fake stuffs lying to customers hoping they got not enough knowledge to realize they are being abused. That was the original point of my post about lags and my intention wasnt to hurt excel servers, I just said that their website returned me a 404 error so I thought the company was closed, period.
PD : I host my website myself but on a different machine than game servers actually. And anyway a website use almost no ressources so hosting it to game servers is not a problem in any case as far as you dont overload your machines.
And a GSP not hosting its own website is kinda paradoxal lol. Providing hosting services but not hosting its own services huh? I assume and I hope you are wrong and excelservers host their own website lol, would be freaky for their customers if their provider dotn trust in its own services.
The 403/404 error i get :
