I think you guys need smth more to discuss instead of this contentless bitching between snugity n doc :(

So heres my opinion on god; Ive been studying some very basic neurology on uni and was taught that scientists and evolutionary scientists had found and agreed on that humans have a specific part of the brain for believing in god. Cant find my source but did a google http://www.dailymail...ous-belief.html

This, together with pure rational reasoning and discussion is in my opinion is a proof that there is no god. (I say this as the true narcist I am Lol, with my big ego thinking i'm smart. And maybe i am.)

But now it seems we are "programmed" to believe, but our IQs have risen and we have become too rational to actually believe, what happends then? Higher IQ is mostly synonymous with greater thinking, and the greater is your insight in how the world around you works. And that there really (yes really) is no meaning (which all atheist philosophers ive read about agree on). With that insight follows often depression. Which is one of the biggest health problems in the high iq western civilization. Still I dont think i'd ever want to trade high iq with low iq and happiness. Funny. Thinking life has no meaning has made me into the most unserious douche out there. True story true. :o

Saying god might excist is totaly different than saying god excist or believing in a god, its free thinking. By saying the amount of less educated people that is religious is higher is basicly saying the same as Snugg said tho :(

But to give you guys my view, I'm with Sylt on this one. Tho I've never been jealous of people because of religion, I have the feeling being non-religious gives me more freedom.

true but for me you gotta chose between an illusion in the circumstance a god or a logic, scientist, and meaningless " answer " to why we are here. Science way basically provides the think that we are here for nothing, by the greatest, but nicest coincidence. Wich is a bit sad in my mind.

Sorry to break a bit the debat but I gotta create a question of phylosophy for my exam in a few days. So if some of you can help me it would be nice :o hehe. The question must be ORIGINAL and to be about language. And I must answer it of course. I really don't know what to ask and this is really annoying me to do. I thought a bit about something like : Why some words are almost the same in every language, like papa ?

Well i know this seems fucking annoying so i don't mind if you don't think about it :D

''Dr Grafman’s findings were in line with other research that has so far failed to find any specific structure in the brain that is dedicated to religious belief.''
and even if there was some part of the brain that responds when it comes to god, what does that proof? you can look at it both ways no? and isnt it normal for a brain to have some parts that respond on different matters/things/subjects? :D

doctor, im getting tired of it. You keep responding with useless counter-arguments. You act like I objectively said religious believers are retarded. Its my opinion, and that correlation contributes to it. You spent a page writing arguments as if I ever said there was objective proof religion causes retardedness.

Like i said earlier, you ignored large parts of my posts and missed the essence of my points

But well done with the wikipedia criticisms of IQ tests (and maybe you do really understand what they mean) but like it or not, they reflect an accurate image of intellectual thought, analytical skills and pattern recognition. Religious beliefs are paired with lower IQ's. Accept it. never said there was a causation, u keep going on about the possible reason of that correlation, but like Richard said, it doesnt matter, the correlation is still there!

How can you make so many problems out of 2 simple things? An objective correlation and a subjective viewpoint.

Gonna stop responding to your circular pattern of irrational counter-arguments now

kinda stupid anyway that you have problems with personal viewpoints. I mean, your admin on demobase, you come across subjective opinions like those 24/7 that are a lot more illogical than mine

It wasnt the exact article i was looking for and I think there is more written and looked further into the subject than this dailymail strip. I want to stress the fact that this is still "just" my opinion on the subject and _I_ (and my fellow scientists ofc) think the human brain is made to make up a god.

true but for me you gotta chose between an illusion in the circumstance a god or a logic, scientist, and meaningless " answer " to why we are here. Science way basically provides the think that we are here for nothing, by the greatest, but nicest coincidence. Wich is a bit sad in my mind.

Same here. I also find it very sad at times. But i'm convinced that it is all for the lulz!.

Who am I?

Your generalization is too general because you have overlooked other major important factors such as the degeneralization of degenerals and the predictability of correlations with a negative covariance causing you to be wrong and I'm right. But maybe you should let me know where you got your ideas from so that I could investigate further correlations with significant variances of tests.

BTW, which movie is this? It's a Cambodian scifi I saw on Polish television at 1pm when I was 5 years old, it sucked dick but you probably all know it.

I aprove of this post.

There is no 'ctrl' button on fastcolts computer. Fastcolt is always in control.

anyways, even though I'm not a pokerwhore like fastcolt, that's what I do the most also, betting small to check what others do
but in this situation, fastcolt > me, listening to him is like asking a crackjunk how to use crack, u can trust it :D

guys like doctor and snugg makes the war, you hitlers.beta !

If a study show off there is a bigger porcentage of "retarded-mongol-lower QI " who believe in god that's just a fact, you cannot cunter argument it. So there is well a correlation in it.

But what doctor is saying is that there is no interaction in it, in the meaning that less educated (wich include sciences education) people are more inclined to believe in god and also are more inclined to have a lower QI. He contradict the fact lower QI make you believe in god, but without that education you have more facilities to do so. I don't know if I express myself right so i'll do it again. You are less educated then you are more inclined to :believe in god and have a lower QI. So in other terms, If you have a lower QI you prolly are less educated and so on, you might prolly believe in god. So there is a correlation :o

MASTER ACTIVE FOR THE SERVICE THANKS

So you guys are just both right smh Stop it mongols ! + You are both fat

its IQ, not QI. and sylt, not sure on the validity of brain regions causing religious beliefs. Not to mention that the brains are the hardest organs the study theres always problems with brain research. It sounds about as right as when mani said we have a spirit because theres a weight that cannot be found in the human body (rofl). but i might be wrong, show some quotes or material from the article ?

Personally i think religious beliefs are largely caused by culture. When you're raised in a highly religious family, all those values will be taught to you and passed down. Only a few will question that authory and will wonder how correct those beliefs are. So all in all i think a combination of society/culture and of a lower IQ (in its turn caused by genetics + environment) causes the mental disorder of religious beliefs (just trolling with mental disorder). So a little bit of everything but mostly cultural influence.
