Well believe it or not, I've read 3 pages of it. This is an unending convo as all the opinions shared are totally right.

Baris, I totally agree with you sayin vertexlight is not a default command. But be realistic, this is just a shadow-playin, unlike fullbright which changes some texture colours, & lightmap totally changes the map. If something could be allowed as a fps-boost to people who really need it, I think it can only be vertexlight.

Yet again, this is a forum, made to share minds, I've read on fpbete smthg like "Thanks to Slizer,..." am seriously hopin this is not the kind of dude actually helpin Shifty, how on earth can you advance in any software calling people names, ignoring their opinions & even insulting em.

Here it goes, you all proved you were right in your own opinions, Shifty will have the final word at the end, arguing about something supposed to improve a game is more than useless.

What's wrong in mentioning people who helped bringing loads of suggestions, bug reports, and development criticism?

I believe me, baris, devaz, luigi, neiti etc have been mostly involved in this here on DemoBase and helped him alot making it a better suitable FairPlay for v1.00's needs.

As for vertexlight, I don't care whether it's enabled or disabled, if Shifty can optimize FP slightly further and make it a little less laggier, we could remove vertexlight.

But there seems to be others with huge FPS lags and they need this or they just won't play with it, that's a shame.

I understand, but eventhough I was not involved in the arguing, I don't really like seeing 2 people from a so called community ignoring & insulting each other!

And like I said, the only command that could be accepted to improve fps is vertexlight.

Anyway conclusion, it's only me who disagreed, oh and hda & nicla7 I think. And us 3 against 20 or more? So you might as well keep this command enabled. I found out that even the majority on full loves 2 abuse this command. And well we live in a democracy I guess. So forget about all what is said, until about page 2 I guess.

You're takin it way too far, sayin people abuse this command. I mean, c'mon, it's not hidden or anything, you're free to use it, or not. If you like it, use it, if you don't, then don't! I mean, am not playin this game to have my hands tied up, I like that lil freedom of actually choosing to play with or without vertexlight. How on earth can you abuse a shadow change. That's a bit overreacting to me.

Too funny. Baris, i understand what you are saying, but let's get serious. Baris, I get the impression that you want everyone to run the same brightness, mouse sensitivity, and use the same weapons.

The fact is is that the option to run vertexlighting is open to everyone, just like whether you chose to use a shotgun or machine gun. The point is that all of those options are open to all players. That makes it NOT a cheat, as a cheat is having an unfair advantage over another player. It can't be unfair when everyone has the option to enable it or disable it...that's simply called a "personal choice".

p.s. When i say all players, this is the fairplay section of the forums, so i assume everyone reading this runs fairplay.

if it happens again it was because you probably already had sof2 open before trying to turn on sof2, that could be caused by running a server or by just not noticing having sof2 minimized etc

Baris, We respect your point of view and have had some big discussions about it, but third is also "cheat protected" like vertexlight and full players couldn't live without that..
We had to allow third, and we will probably end up allowing vertexlight too since there isn't really a big advantage from it, impact most of the maps is harder to see.

We are still weighing the pros and cons

On another note, official release of fairplay may be done very soon.. just testing some more things and fixing that pk3 mods/cheats issue from earlier, fingers crossed the fix will work (yn)
