to LEGIT revive sof you would need someone to do some "hd remix bs" like csgo to 1.6. Pretty much remake the game because nobody is gonna show interest in a demo version of an old dead game.

 

 

I strongly disagree with this one, a lot of people complain about the old style (q3 engine) fps being gone and how everything is now futuristic or realistic with insane graphics. A lot of people miss the arcady feel old fps gave them.

 

I do agree Demo has nothing to offer tho in this state, first of all we would have to crawl up as a community again, RPM or a replacement is a must imo. A good ranking system (which we never used ourselves, but it'll bring competivity :/).

 

I'm sure everyone posting in this thread want these things to happen, so do I..I just have no belief in this lol.

 

 

I tried the youtube thing (not with my sof youtube, obviously), I've another youtube where I average 10K views on my videos. I uploaded one SOF video with download links and links to our community and what not, that vid is stuck at 150 views (LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL)

Dude are you retarded? My videos on that channel have 10.000 views each, one SOF video I uploaded on there only has 150 views, 3 likes and no comments.

 

Nobody cares about SOF2, because it's not appealing in any way, although it is a good game.

Why do people play shooters? Competitiveness, being better or the best.. atleast that's the thrill for me.

What brings competition? Having cups/rankings, having something to play for without your time feeling completely wasted. Having an enjoyable experience, active players.. With a game like sof, you need to know what audience you aim for. People that like oldstyle arcady shooters. 

 

SOF has none of the things listed above.

OBVIOUSLY you would keep the gameplay but the game needs an update to be appealing to new people

Since it's gone to page9 i'd like to chip in. Sadly I have to agree with Azzy and Forgy.

Sof2 is dated, and it's like that corny song that you love because you grew up listening to it but nobody else cares about.

it's unappealing to most people and they will never consider playing it when they can play cs cod bf etc. Besides move on

guys. Your idea of making sof2 active has insanely small chance of success, and assuming you would have good programmers,

money , promotion and you would succeed, it would NOT be worth it. Not be worth it for you, you can do much better

and achieve more worthwhile goals in games that still have activity, or in this thing they call "real". I appreciate what you are trying to do but it's too late now. Don't become Black Mambas of sof2 demo, only pain and suffering you will find.

SoF2 is dead, but will always live in our hearts.

 

Reviving it is actually possible by making a new game that looks and is mechanicly the same as sof2, coding all the cool stuff in it like in cs go with ranked competitive matches and all... and then release it on steam as a community driven fps competitive game. (on steam for a low price the game will sell very fast)

 

if no one believes, you can actually look up game PointBlank, which is 100 shittier than sof in everything starting from engine to graphics... and still it has a huge competitive scene going on right now.

 

All we need is a good developing team and make a deal with raven softwares to remake their game sof2 on the same engine.

 

Question is, is there anyone who will bother doing all this stuff or is it just easier to leave this masterpiece game in the history and move on... to other newer competitive games.

 

I personally like CS, all of them, but growing up playing SoF2... none of the other FPS games have the same feeling as SoF2. But it feels this way only to us real oldschool sof2 players, who still can't really imagine how a great game like this could ever die.

 

But if someone is really up for a challenge to revive SoF2 by modding it and make a deal with Raven Softwares, I only support the idea. (eventho I really think everyone are talking bullshit here and nothing is gonna happen).

Nah cuz full is stupid retarded, not only the majority of players (1fx doing hacks and what not, pushing out their own anti cheats and servers, taking down rpm with constant ddossing..) but most of all turning it into a thirdperson game.
