Would it really be that boring?Based on Haapises soul theory.. its gonne be hell of a boring next 50 years for the poor guys soul who gets hit by the bus.
Maybe the first month but after that he starts to get the happiness from little things like just hearing music or seeing the sun shining.
Its the same what you do. You will always be as happy as you are now. You can not get happier.
Maybe thats because of your soul or because depressed ones die faster, but anyways thats how it is.

Since i`m not a religious guy, i tend to rely on evolution theory instead of souls, Zeus, gugumugu or christ and god.
flowers, plants, bugs, animals, humans.. i believe we are what evolution has made us. Human is just a bit more developed from rest of the inhabitants of this globe.
Can't agree. I won't belive that everything we see around us is just made by evolution. Just think about where whole universe came from? Everything has a start. Things like water, light, darkness, elements etc.. could come from simple evolution? I doubt it. Won't express my thoughts about how and who made it, but i can surely say that even if there is such a thing like evolution, someone should have made it, don't u think? Even all siencist who are discovering about our universe and everything is in it, are getting into deadlock. They are just simply udnerstanding, that there is somethingsomeone (doesn't matter), who made everything or atleast made some basis.

What is the first assumption based on? If one is getting banged in the ass 24/7 for 30 days a month in jail. I think he can become happier than he is during those dark, cold days in the prison.
your 2nd assumption is controversial with your first assumption. Your saying people can`t become happier, but they can become less happy (depression is sadness in its fullest). Why doesn`t it work both ways?
They are just simply udnerstanding, that there is somethingsomeone (doesn't matter), who made everything or atleast made some basis.
Guess i have missed something since i hardly ever heard of scientists saying someone has made this universe. I think they are relying quite heavily on the theory of BIG BANG.

Well big bang also didn't appear from nothing. There was some "primeval atom" whole univerce was brought in to a single point, there was no mass and no time even. And why would even that big bang happen, just happened and thats it?
Well honestly we can discuss about it forever. It just about the faith and point of view, i doubt that human will ever prove what really happened back there and how did univerce appear. And honestly that doesn't matter We should be happy we are what we are now and live with today not with the past

Happiness and sadness are related to each other like big and small. When you claim that something is big you must know what is small. Same for emotions that you must feel sad to feel happy.your 2nd assumption is controversial with your first assumption. Your saying people can`t become happier, but they can become less happy (depression is sadness in its fullest). Why doesn`t it work both ways?

Red line is your emotion. Black is just showing the golden mean or w/e
It works for both ways. The one who is depressed will start to get happy from little things because the level of happy toughts he requires to get happy is low. Also when you are happy you expect more and you will get dissapointed and then become sad.
If you start looking happiness in long term you will see that you cant be happier(or depressed) even when you try.
Big Bang requires material from nothing. Dont know if its possible, but god requires god from nothing so actually we are facing the same question again. Of course you will think that god has always existed and so on but replacing a problem with something supernational is just stupid.Well honestly we can discuss about it forever. It just about the faith and point of view, i doubt that human will ever prove what really happened back there and how did univerce appear. And honestly that doesn't matter We should be happy we are what we are now and live with today not with the past
Like the ancient Greeks had a god for every natural phenomenon which they couldnt explain. The same thing will happen with this.
Stupid matter to discuss because you got no argument for it.

According to my inferencing on this matter. I believe death is when you are not alive. You guys are thinking to much.
Agree yeah, death is for me when the whole system is not functioning anymore, I saw Dena and some others coming with facts you have multiple forms of death, if you can still think but not move you are death in another way or so but I think that's excessive, then you can also say I am 99,954% alive now and 0,046% death because my brains destroyed some cells because of alcohol. Same with water in a glass, is it half-empty or half-full? I think when the glass is really out of water you are 'death', same with this.
whaahahahahahha this guy is being really serious about death.. you should know from the beginning people like azzy are gonna fuck it up that doesnt mean this guy isnt hilarious.. it means the creator of this topic shouldnt post this on a sof 2 demo forum?!
That's not Laury's fault. There are some guys who can act who they are (themselves) and some want to be cool or though by saying that someone's opinion sucks. We just ignore these people, good topic.

What is death? Death is the cessation of the connection between our mind and our body. Most people believe that death takes place when the heart stops beating; but this does not mean that the person has died, because his subtle mind may still remain in his body. Death occurs when the subtle consciousness finally leaves the body to go to the next life. Our body is like a guesthouse and our mind like the guest; when we die our mind has to leave this body and enter the body of our next rebirth, like a guest leaving one guesthouse and travelling to another.
The mind is neither physical, nor a by-product of purely physical processes, but is a formless continuum that is a separate entity from the body. When the body disintegrates at death the mind does not cease. Although our superficial conscious mind ceases, it does so by dissolving into a deeper level of consciousness, the very subtle mind; and the continuum of the very subtle mind has no beginning and no end. It is this mind which, when thoroughly purified, transforms into the omniscient mind of a Buddha. Anyways this is just my opinion on this matter.

trying to figure out the meaning of death means, wasting your time trying to figure out something you will never know untill you get owned by a horse in your ass for example.
just saying, stop being an emo and put your time somewhere where its needed instead on the useless question what death actually means

The problem for me is that there is only one education direction on this, "Wijsbegeerte". And there's not much money to earn in that expertise.. although I love to think a bit different than I usually do.
The best thing I've ever read was this [Dutch]. (from a Book called Ik ook van jou by Ronal Giphart:
"Aftrekken met een lege geest, dat is mijn ultieme doel."
[Translation: To masturbate on an empty mind, that is my ultimate goal]

Pretty contradicting. Dena explained it all. This is what i do not like about "God made it all" theory's.

Btw most of the talking done already here is more about scientific and psychological theories, not about philosophy .
I know a good subject; Let's talk about capitalism
