I didnt even read the whole thread, but i assume someone is whining to remove that vertexlight (no clue wtf is this) and somebody think its not an advantage.

it's not a hash command, it's a fp command so it wasn't part of the game in the first place and since it provides an advantage it should be removed

Go put r_vertexlight 1, and it'll say cheat protected as it says to fullbright & lightmap. Go put hash in front of it, and suddenly it works.

Don't end a story without elaborating your arguments good first please .

Look I said, I won't bitch about it anymore even though I know I am right and I am one of the few who shits on every commands. But don't come with bullshit arguments :F

The game looks really ugly with vertexlight, yok!
I doubt this command gives any advantage or disadvantage to anyone, because I doubt it's gonna skillboost people that much. It's all about aim you know =)
And if the command gives advantage to noobs, then be it. I'd rather play versus better players anyway.

I think shifty and xillax have given it a thought, whether to enable it or not.

Thought there is one more thing which would be nice, I didn't follow your process fully but it's fucked up that Fairplay (at least the old one) only accepts some files in the folder demo. That avoids you can't play other maps unless you play goldmaps with the gold-fp version, but like new made maps are not possible to play.

I know exactly what baris is saying when its easier to see on roof; theres alot less shade at the back near cargo (ground is straight brown with no shadows), ofcourse then theres the opposite with black walls in places and a more darker map overall especially in kitchen.

We are leaning more towards taking it out of full but probably leaving it in demo, after all full is the better optimized game and can get more fps out of the same hardware than demo which makes vertexlight more so unneeded.

Now that's not really a hasty detail but if you could work on that it's nice since I make maps you know. In gold it's also possible to download maps and play with punkbuster the same time, so just wondering if you could work on that if you got time.

Well then don't whine at people who all of a sudden don't wanna use FairPlay because they got low FPS with it.

My FPS seems to be pretty stable now but sometimes it can be much lower, just on some occasions.

Baris, I'm happy with it. I basically don't care if vertexlight is enabled or disabled. I was only saying you're making a big deal out of it, c'mon we're talking about a game and a little command that is giving you both advantages and disadvantages but it doesn't make you any better at all, and this discussion is like world war 3... disable it then. I wasn't saying I won't use FairPlay for that reason, but I'm saying there are many others who lag with FP and they don't wanna play with it. So for once you could give them a chance too, or you can waste time on whining at ppl who refuse to play with it... your choice.

big mouth kid relax a little. FP doesn't want to disable anything, you want it to be disabled. Its will be disabled on full shifty said then why keep whining about something that is already solved? Really man you talk like a 90 year old sitting on a computer wishing everyone should have the same settings, truth is its never going to happen. People have really good computers like 1600*xxx resolution and some have 640 480 which means some1 with a good comp has an advantage when it comes to amount of fps in nades etc.

Hey! Until now I have not insulted anyone you know. And you are calling me: 1. Big mouthed, 2. A kid!
There is something that I do not understand t0xic. Rocket told me, he did use vertexlight only when he had the rcon of a server. He was then able to put the sv_CHEAT 1, then enable this command. He also said that he did this rarely because he did not have rcon in so many servers. This means that also you rarely or even never used this command before it got enabled by FPbete.exe.

It's like a drug, you used it once and now you are addicted to it. You guys also keep on coming with the same fucking arguments. "Oh it doesn't change alot, and you get a lot of FPS back for it". Then let's also enable fullbright, this command changes as few as vertexlight. To be honest, it doesn't even change the map, it's just more brighter than allowed. But hey, you know what, let's give one command an exception.

I don't know if you have seen my screenshots? All my graphics are on low, my picmip & lodbias are on 4. My resolution is 1024/768. Every time I show my screenshots to some1, they laugh at me. But you don't see me whining for a little raise of FPS.

And yeah maybe a guy with a good computer does have a little advantage over a guy with a bad computer. Of course I would love to have a good quality sof2 too. But we all have priorities in life. Maybe your friend has a good computer, and you have a badass car.

Man I don't know if I am supposed to write a book before you guys get what I am trying to say :S.

Look doctorfunk, what I am trying to say is. Even if vertexlight changes less then now, I would have still whined about it. It's not about being out of balance, it's that fact that not everyone is equal. The only that everybody would be equal, is either to disable or force this command.

Let me give you a fucked up example, let's enable godmode so everybody will use it. Nothing is out of balance here too you know, since everybody will use it. And don't take this example too serious, but it might let you finally know what I am trying to say here. Even if vertexlight would have given only disadvantages + FPS, then I would still say people are not equal. That's my point here, it's not about the advantages or disadvantages, but the fact that not everyone is equal.

And I said that I would stop whining about it, and I don't care what shifty does with this command as long as you guys stop coming with lame arguments.

Aight, anyway I don't think you guys will change your opinion as I won't mine. So I will stop whining about it. But still I suggest that you should try and look at it from a neutral perspective.

If any user (no matter who) is connected, he or she can use this command, it's equal for everybody. So about the command is not fair I disagree.

About the advantages; like shifty said some places get darker but some areas still got the same detail of light. So it depends for everybody when it's an advantage or not. On roof the guy holding behind a bunker can see maybe more detailled than a player who comes from cargo.

So rocket is kinda right about that this command can be compared to r_gamma as well, you can change that for yourself so you can see better on same places (for example: in mp_col2 with the fog, lower gamma can make you see players better).

I know this is possible, but I mentioned actually an automatic system built in FP so that the program can recognize that the PK3-file is a map.

I don't know your background or anything, but believe me; a lot of players knew already what vertexlight was and many used it already before FP blocked this command in an older version.
