More football? When stekelenburg would have shoot the ball upfront everytime we would have lost it 8/10th of the time. Kuyt was more defending then attacking, sneijder would be on the mid field and that leaves only van persie and robben to 4 head strong defenders. If you ask me, starting up from the back and try to get the ball upfront by just short passes is more football then shooting it forwards.

Fact is that all the dutch players and fans are crying about the referee but it works both ways you know. Holland could have ended the match with 8 players instead of 10 and im not even exagerating.
Spain was better except for about 15 minutes in the first half. The only thing i saw holland do is put everything on the defence and try to counter as fast as possible. Maybe its just me but I dont like that way of playing. I saw an interview of Cruijf and at least he is one of the few dutch ppl that is not afraid to speak the truth.

Thats excactly what I mean. Ref made mistakes at both sides. But at the end of the match spain was the better team so they deserved to win.
But I understand it are extremely frustrating days for dutch ppl since most of em thought they already won.

its a red card, hindering/tackling a broken through player is a red card.

In my opinion the ref did a good job most times. He punished players like Van Bommel early on to keep the match a bit friendly. Good decision. But later in the match he failed. Robben is out-sprinting Puyol and Puyol has his arm around Robben's hip while trying to tackle him. Robben keeps running, and gets 1 on 1 with the keep. Yes, Robben was disadvantaged by Puyol's action. No action taken by ref afaik. Heitinga's second yellow was fair imo, he did grab the shoulder of Iniesta in a desperate attempt to try to keep him from breaking through NL's defence. Iniesta falls later, very smart. Heitinga off. The shot of Sneijder on the wall, horrible decision. Was corner kick of course. Then we lost the match, 'what if's go through your head then One change in action will change the whole sequence.

About the teams:
Netherlands were playing horrible first 70 minutes. Spain wasn't awesome either. But they can keep the ball a lot better than Holland. Holland passed ball too many times in Spain's feet on long passes. Blegh. Spain frightened me everytime they were passing the ball over the midline on our side. Later in the game Netherlands showed some proper playing again. With the speed of Robben and some nice combinations including Van Persie, Sneijder and Robben. But we failed a few times to kill it. Stekelenburg saved our asses a few times. In my opinion it was all about the flow that was lacking. As soon Netherlands get flow they play awesome, but that didn't happen until later in the game, but then we ended with 10 men on the pitch and Spain kills it.
