Actually, it wasnt avoiding. I regret, that you name it that way. I just tought i already had explained your question before.
I got influenced by my parents and came out of a muslim family. I thank Allah for this, Alhamdillah. I feel very lucky because of this. But i think my knowledge of the Islam, is way more then my parents do know about it. Certainly, i did my research myself also. I did not just copy it from them.
But there are
millions of people , whom were from an other religion and whom converted to Islam by their own will. To some, the Islam has been explained (just like i try to do) and some have discovered the Islam themself by doing research e.q. by reading the quran and studying the haddiths. I know a Christian priest, called Yusuf Estes, who have converted to Islam just by studying the Islam by himself. When he studied the Islam, his intention was not to convert. He did not even think about converting he said, when he start studying the Islam. He just saw that the bible, in this shape has been modified by people and that many things in it are incorrect. He saw the truth in the Islam and the word of God. At that point, he decided to convert. Just imagine, a priest whom life has gone trough reading the bible and studying it becomes a muslim since he start studying the Islam.
Since, i do not want you to think the story above is made up. You can clearly do your own research about this ex-priester. In this case, that we are pushed to believe and know nothign better and get influenced by our surroundings is not true. I think priesters, like Yusuf Estes, and other millions of people are the prove of this. In the Islam 'knowing what you believe' is very important, just as gaining knowledge. We can not and do not believe blindly.
If the Islam was something i would not support or believed in, i would not believe nor would i call myself a muslim. There are no commitmens in the Islam in point of believing.
