Max, do I need to add seta numIpChars "0" in the RPM Hide&Seek server.cfg?

And let's say I have seta numIpChars "5", and my IP always begins with "83.233..." so if I give myself admin the first time, and the first time I do that my FULL IP is (example): 83.233.150.170 but the next time I restart my PC/Internet my FULL IP is 83.233.140.120, this means I keep admin as long as I use same name?

But if my IP changes from 83.233 to 83.234 the admin is gone?


Yes, that's how it works. Remember that a dot also counts as a character, so in the case of 5 characters, "83.23" would be saved to the admin/clan file. Also remember that all your admins/clan members are not recognized by the server anymore once you change the value of the numIpChars, so you have to re-add all admins (or shorten the IP adresses in the admin/clan files, in the case that you make the numIpChars smaller).

The reason that I use the full IP addresses to store the admins is to prevent faking. Often people who use the same ISP have the exact same first digits in their IP address, and so they could get admin powers if they knew the admin's nickname. I recall that this has been exploited in the past.

And yeah donn used to be able to get admins on my name.

I checked out MDK server, and everything worked nice, except for the fact that I couldn't find out what ctf_classic 1 changed :S.
I've put kam2 in ctf, and I did rcon ctf_classic one, and the map remained the same, the settings remained the same. Maybe, you see the changes whenyou play with more players?

Anyway apart from that, it's great.

Oh and the only update left for the serverside version at the moment is that medals in both round thingy?

Hmm, good thinking. I'm not that worried of fakers though, we usually find out at once if somebody's faking another admin.

However Max, I noticed that in the admin txt file and clanmembers file you only see as many numbers as you've edited in the numIpChars option, but I would like to see the full IP's of my members even if I just add them via the two first IP numbers, is this possible somehow to fix for next version? It's a suggestion.

That's right Baris, I've added every other suggestion. Adding the medals for both rounds would be alot of work, so I figured it's not worth the effort. But I might still look into it for the next version.

The CTF_Classic will make the CTF the same as in UT99: you can't capture the opponent's flag whenever your own flag is gone; you can return your own flag by walking into it. Possibly this is more exciting in mp_kam2 than the original CTF, especially when both teams have taken eachother's flag.

I don't know if INF players are interested in it, but with 1.55 you can play CTF in mp_shop.

I like that suggestion, it should be easy to fix. That way, whenever you make the numIpChars smaller, the admins/clan members who you previously added will still be recognized.

By the way, I believe that I have different .ent files for H&S than you currently use. Could that be true? If so, are you willing to share the files so I can update the in the next version? Also, the standard H&S mapcycle should probably be modified.

H&S Briefcase bug, 2 seekers spawned with 1 case each when Riel killed himself in hk1 or something, there was some bug in the water I think. He was able to repeat this, so it wasn't a 1 time thing.

If you got it twice, there could be an error in the .ent file -- two briefcases might be defined. Can you reproduce the bug? At what instant do the first and second briefcase appear?

The "Briefcase given to...." message only appeared 1 time. I'll ask Riel for more details since he was the one who found out about it. He said he knew a way to repeat the bug.

this happend: i was in the water following a hider, we were both under water and the time was runnig out, while i was half choking (health bar gone down) he stunned me and the round ended. next round i had case inmediatly. while riper achieved the 'real' case after some seconds

then two rounds after that.... i was in the water again, killed myself, was runnig for about 10 - 20 seconds and i got case again lol
such a weird bug............

I think that bug has occured before in the hk1 map. When it appears remains a mystery. Most likely the briefcase is not taken from the player whenever he is respawned.

Would you appreciate if I save all names a player has used in your server to a file, and show the 10 last names used by this player in the "stats"? That will prevent name hiders, and might help catching hackers.

Yes. I'm not sure whether to show the names to all players, or only to admins. I guess the former would be better.

You could add this to server.cfg so server owners can decide what privilege you need to be able to see this.

I figured that currently, everybody can see eachother's IP with "stats". So why not also show the aliases? Or should I remove both, and only show them to admins?

Try it in my server: 193.138.205.49:20200. It only saves the names that you use to connect with the first time, so you have to rename; disco; recon; and your name will be saved as an alias.
