when recording in wars for some time you need to do vid_restart or reconnecting back to server, because when someone shoots you your crosshair goes up all the time making shooting just impossible.

possible to fix it?

yea i was thinking about that as well, if you reconnect you just have to restart recording manually? so like what you've recorded prior to restart becomes part1 and then part2 because now you've got 2 demos, right

why would you need to vid_restart during a war? crosshair goes all up? hwat :/

Strange problem, I've never heard of that.

If you reconnect, your demo will be ended indeed. If you don't stop the demo manually beforehand, the extra info won't be saved (screenshot, server info, demo info).

If you enter the server again, the server will automatically make you start recording, as soon as you join a team. So you don't have to start recording manually during competition mode. The server will always make sure that you record, even if you reconnect.

At the end of the map, the server will make sure that you stop recording when the scoreboard is shown (so that a screenshot of the scoreboard is taken). If competition mode gets disabled by an admin before the map ended, the recording will also end automatically.

If have to leave the match before it has ended, you may want to stop recording manually, so that the extra info is saved. If you just disconnect while recording, the extra info will not be saved.

He's probably talking about knockback. Having it also sometimes without using that record thing.

The autorecord is not optional. You can make the text go away by hex editing your SoF2MP.exe (search for "RECORDING %s: %ik", and change the space to a null byte). Alternatively, you can use FP like you should anyway, since the SoF2MP.exe used by FP is also edited, and only shows "RECORDING".

I allways use FP and I dont want RECORDING to be showed. So if i can remove this in my sof2mp.exe I will and if not I keep stopping it and gr the round.

Unless you write another line which auto-stops recording when someone decides to quit in a normal way. /q or via the menu :P!?
I mean you are finalizing this shit anyway, so why not go for perfection :P?

If you use FP, you cannot use a custom edited SoF2MP.exe, you'll have to use the executable provided by FP. So editing it yourself is not an option in this case. My suggestion to shifty was to only show REC, he chose to show RECORDING instead. I think it's important to show a little bit of text, just to make sure that you're recording. It could show rec or REC instead, which should be less disturbing than RECORDING. Would you be fine with that? I guess we could make a new thread in the FP forum, to see what others think.

True true, perfection is the goal. It should be as good as 0.78 was when it got released. I think you're right, and I'll look into this. Although there's probably no opportunity to take a screenshot, I do think at least the demo length and server info can be saved. Added to the suggestions list. Thanks for the suggestion.

Can't change the position, it has to remain in the upper center.

I don't know that bug, and I don't believe that it can be related to recording anyway. How can I reproduce that bug?

could you add a very useful command that ppl use to create movies? /hash cg_draw2d 0, if you could add it in the Playback menu or smth that would be great, and it doesn't work atm because it's a /hash command and shifty needs to accept it on fp, even without fp it doesnt work so maybe you need to fix it too for rpm, dunno... but anyway it's a useful cmd :)

a few other things i noticed in the perspective of a movie maker, maybe it has been mentioned before, but i went into floating mode and sometimes the players and objects like the helicopter disappear from screen... for example, try to record a demo in blue team, go into floating mode, fly away a bit from the heli when a new round starts and you will see them disappear and re-appear from time to time... hope that's fixable!

is there a way to change the sensitivity in floating speed? can the movement be made smoother?

if you go into floating mode you still hear the sounds (shots fired, running, jumping etc) as if you were speccing normally in 1st or 3rd, is it possible to make it sound like i was another player in the server, the further away i go the less i hear from it, or if i'm in main with floating mode and "im" (the player) is on roof i shouldnt hear any sounds at all from me, you understand?

last question about f-mode, are there any other controls besides the arrow keys?

is it just me or does it lag while speccing another player in the demo that you recorded?

Posted Image

players in this list keep popping up and popping away for some reason, maybe already mentioned...? :excl:

A lot of things in one post... hope i've been to any help though.

EDIT: i just noticed that i couldn't really spec another player for long in this demo, i kept going back to myself

Thanks for testing Carl! Much appreciated.

  • 1. That's already implemented. In the Playback menu, hit HUD info until you get Hide HUD. It's the same as cg_draw2d 0.
  • 2. They disappear because there is no info about them. When you record, only the objects that are close to you are saved to the demo. So this is not fixable.
  • 3. That's not possible at the moment, I can certainly add a slider for the float speed and float sensitivity in the Playback menu. Added to the suggestions list. In my opinion the movement is already fairly smooth.
  • 4. That should be possible, I'll look into this. Added to the suggestions list.
  • 5. No specific float settings, though adding camera's is best done while floating. There's insert to add a camera; F1-F15 to load a camera; scrolling to adjust speed; 0-9 to spectate a player; tab to check the scores; mouse1 to change view; mouse2 to freeze the demo; mouse3 to change the HUD info; delete to return to the recording player. Though, you can also use the Playback menu instead.
  • 6. It feels a little bit laggy indeed. That's logical though, since there's not as much information about this player as yourself (for example, the origin and angles are likely less often updated, etc). Nothing we can do about that.
  • 7. That's related to 2.: there's only information about the players who are close to you. If they get too far away, you won't be able to spectate them anymore. If that's the case, the camera will return to the recording player. The list only shows the players who are close to you, so it's updated constantly.

Thnx in advance

Yo max RPM 79 is very nice i have some suggestions for H&S

- Make cg_disablevoicechat disable all sounds, it blocks some sounds but not all

- Make an option to disable spree sounds ( but i love them just for others )

- maybe add /ignore # command but it cause a problem if admin use it so idk

suggestion (this might be server-side): it's up to you how exactly you would want this to look like but whenever you use /tell, the person who gets the msg cant really distinguish it from a team chat msg unless you are on the opposite team or spectating and vice versa, maybe you don't care, it's just a minor thing but if you could make /tell messages look different from team chat, colorwisely or [PM] in front of the message idk

Many thanks for your input Azote.

1. I wasn't aware of this, thanks for pointing it out. I'll look into this, and make sure that all voice chat sounds are disabled (#n and such).
2. This is already on the suggestions list. I will add this option to the Settings menu, along with the previously mentioned cg_disableVoiceChat.
3. In my opinion ignore is a useless feature. If you're an admin and someone's naughty, you'll simply mute him instead -- ignoring him is not an option. If you're a non-admin player, simply complain to an admin and he will make sure that the offender gets punished. If you want to ignore players for other reasons than "being naughty", simply refrain from reading their messages!

That's a nice suggestion Carl, I agree with you there. Using a [PM] prefix or something similar will be fine. Thanks for the suggestion, added to the list.
